This church is much more interesting than the Duomo (although the outside of the Duomo is impossible to beat!). It is a very large church and has extensive grounds and tombs. I could have chatted to him for hours. Santa Maria Novella was also the only hotel that we stayed at in Italy that helped us carry our bags up the stairs.
