Takai the owner was sooooo helpful, it made all the difference to my stay in Matsumoto. I loved the book he made describing the different restaurants and what their specialities were. So much love and hard work have gone into making this place special. Takai was patient and answered all of my questions and went out of his way to help me. I am very grateful for his kindness and consideration. Lots of eating and drinking places are only a few minutes away as is the castle. It's also only about 15 minutes walk from the station so even with a suitcase I could walk here.

The offer of toiletries to take to the onsen, bikes to cycle round the city and free washing facilities made it such an easy place to stay without hidden extra costs. The kitchen was well kitted out. Staff and other travellers very friendly.

The room was spacious enough. The beds comfortable. The location is perfect, close to the station (3 min walk) and walking distance to major attractions (the castle, the frog street etc). Ended up extending 1 night my stay and there was no issue.

Different languages, beliefs, cuisines, … But human nature is same with the same problems. Same solutions too if the people in power are willing to change.

    Just one night at this lovely hotel , perfectly situated for Matsumoto Castle and Nawate Street (Frog Street) - both within very short walking distance. Room was very comfortable with all amenities and the staff were helpful and friendly. We took breakfast which had a wide variety of Western and Japanese foods - we enjoyed it. Would happily stay here again.

    A wonderful little traditional Japanese hotel located just a short walk from Matsumoto Castle. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious! I can highly recommend staying here!

    The private room was fine, it was a fun experience to have an overnight stay in "Japanese style". The shower was great. But it is still a hostel, so only book this if you don't mind sharing a kitchen and bathroom! The big catch for this hostel is the location: literally a five-minute walk to the entrance of Matsumoto Castle!

    the location just great for travellers who need to commute via trains to the different parts of Japan. walkable within 3 mins from the train station and plenty of eateries and souvenir shops around. we were fortunate to find the hotel quickly with the help of someone. the famous Matsumoto castle is within walking distance from the hotel and walking along the roads were pleasant with so much of vibrant activities.

    Location: It's a short walk from Matsumoto Station and you can easily walk to Matsumoto castle and the surrounding areas from here. Stay: It's a very modern hotel in a traditional style. Rooms are very spacious. Breakfast was very good, mixture of western and Japanese options available. Free soba at night. No issues with check-in as some staff spoke a good level of English. Shoes aren't allowed in the hotel; they provide lockers and keys for you to store your shoes.

    A very cosy hotel. The Japanese style room is clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast has plenty of food. The hot spring is very nice. The staffs are very friendly. Very close to Matsumoto Castle. As a bonus, there is a light show in the Castle, which is amazing.

    Tidy little hotel close by to Matsumoto Castle. As I have come to expect from Japanese hotels in this price range, the hotel was very clean and well maintained. However, the room was smaller than I had expected from looking at the pictures. They offer free parking but it was located two streets away.

    4-star upscale hotel not far from Matsumoto station. Easy walk to Matsumoto Castle as well as Nawate and Nakamachi shopping streets. Superb breakfast but with limited options for vegans / vegetarians; Japan is generally not a friendly place for them.

    It's really good quality for price. It's a business hotel but it is perfectly suitable for tourists' needs as well. Located next to bus and railway station. 20 minutes of walk to Matsumoto Castle. Perfectly clean and stuffed. The size of the room isn't big, but enough. The breakfast is rather Japanese style - rice, soup and so on, but there's coffee and croissants as well.
