Check-in and check-out were smooth. The Darwin-themed décor is tasteful. Breakfast lived up to its reputation, cooked to order and delicious. The ground floor features a spacious communal lounge with a garden, plus pay later bar. Nearby are charming restaurants and bars, and the Severn River walkway makes for a beautiful and pleasant stroll. Crossing the bridge leads to the cathedral. It was helpful that they stored our luggage after check-out,too. I learnt it suffered severe damage in the 2020 floods. The staff must have put in considerable effort and hardship. It is now beautifully restored and looks completely transformed.

I wouldn’t have known Hodnet Hall had such a great garden if I hadn’t stayed here. A must add stop for your Shropshire travels.

The Mytton and Mermaid - Brunning and Price is a splendid Grade II-listed building on the bank of the River Severn, England’s longest river. What an absolutely delightful place. It was our long shot and it surpassed everything we’d read. Room was super and trust me no noise from below to spoil our sleep. Pub atmosphere was fun, folks friendly and food over the top great. Servers were right on top of getting you what you needed and fast service especially considering it was busy for dinner. Breakfast the same.
