Free transfers to and from the airport and ferry terminal are available. The space was amazing loved the layout. Lovely couch, table and bed space plus outside.

the hotel's just a ten-minute walk from the ferry terminal, was incredibly convenient. It made our arrival hassle-free. I must especially commend the warmth and hospitality of the hotel owners. We arrived on the earliest ferry, and they not only sent someone to greet us at the pier but also facilitated our early check-in, sparing us the wait until the official check-in time.
The room was impressively clean and even featured a small kitchenette, which proved to be a lifesaver for preparing baby food for my little one. The thoughtful provision of a complimentary baby cot was a pleasant surprise, and the valuable tips and recommendations for exploring the island and dining options were greatly appreciated.
South Sea Hotel - Stewart Island
Half-moon Bay
Stewart Island's iconic South Sea Hotel is located on the foreshore, in the centre of town. It is 2 minutes’ walk from the ferry and airline terminals.
The self-contained studio units are adjacent to the main hotel building. The older-style accommodation upstairs in the main hotel offers shared facilities including a communal guest lounge overlooking the harbor, which offers tea and coffee making facilities.
Easy to find and get to. Very friendly staff.

The room was great, the bed was comfortable. The views of the harbour from the balcony were lovely. We were greeted by host when we arrived and they took us and our luggage to our meeting point for Ulva island taxi. They took our luggage to the motel. I would recommend the bus tour of the island too.

Large studio with beautiful view that was very clean & comfortable. Staff were helpful. Great location. Lots of fun watching the kakas, tui and kereru from the motel decks.

Lovely owners, really enjoyed our brief stay at The Bay Motel. We did not manage to contact the property for a pick up but somehow they showed up with transport at the pier seems like they do for all customers. It was a cold day and the heater was already on when we got there. Rooms were clean and well equipped. Will be back on my next visit to Stewart Island.

Would highly recommend this motel and would definitely stay there again! Appreciated the shuttle pick up from the ferry; great location as it's an easy walk into Oban; fantastic views; clean, spacious and well set out rooms; great value for money and really helpful, friendly and obliging manager. Best customer service and motel stay experience I have had for a long time.
