The property is around 4 km from Seto Shrine, 4.6 km from North Disaster Earthquake Monument and 4.9 km from Kehi Shrine. Offering free WiFi throughout the property, the non-smoking hotel features a hot spring bath. Our stay at Akaishiya Ryokan was truly the highlight of our month-long honeymoon in Japan. From the moment we arrived—amid heavy snowfall and quite late due to the lack of direct trains to Kinosaki Onsen—we were met with unparalleled hospitality. The ryokan’s location is ideal, just a short 5-minute walk from Kinosaki Onsen Station, making it incredibly convenient even in the snow. Upon arrival, the reception team went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Despite the late hour, the receptionist promptly replied to our inquiries during transit and stayed up late to personally check us in—a level of service you rarely find elsewhere, especially in Japan, where many stays have fixed reception hours. Our room was stunning, offering a serene view of the river that was even more magical in the snow. The atmosphere was cozy, clean, and well-appointed with all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay. Breakfast at Akaishiya was absolutely delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Each morning, we were treated to a delightful spread of traditional Japanese dishes, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. It was the perfect way to start our day of exploring the town’s famous onsen. The ryokan’s attention to detail made our stay even more comfortable. They provided yukatas, boots, and umbrellas for us to use while going around town, which was incredibly helpful given the heavy snow. It allowed us to enjoy the charm of Kinosaki Onsen without any inconvenience. What truly set Akaishiya apart was the exceptional service. The receptionist, in particular, deserves special recognition. Not only did he assist us during check-in and throughout our stay, but he also went out of his way to help with our luggage transport. Since the ryokan didn’t arrange it, he personally went with us, helped bring our bags to Family Mart, and helped process the transport. This level of care and dedication is something we’ll never forget.

The 4-star ryokan has garden views and is 4.2 km from Seto Shrine. The ryokan offers a hot spring bath and a housekeeping service. Located right beside the river in the center of Kinosaki Onsen, this beautiful hotel combines the traditional style of Japanese ryokans with modern design elements, creating a unique atmosphere. Our room was spacious, well equipped and made us feel welcome immediately. While the famous public onsens of Kinosaki are just around the corner due to the central location of Kobayashiya, the three private onsen rooms inside the ryokan present an ideal opportunity to start the day in a relaxing fashion or simply enjoy some privacy in between. The Kaiseki (dinner menu) and breakfast were included in our stay and we would highly recommend adding the option. The dishes were carefully prepared with fresh, local ingredients (especially the fish and seafood) and present the perfect opportunity to experience and savor traditional, Japanese cuisine. It was definitely a highlight of our trip to Japan. We would especially like to highlight the service provided during our stay. From the moment you arrive, everything is being taken care of, from providing the complimentary Yukatas and assisting you in dressing appropriately, taking the time to introduce and explain to you the dinner and breakfast menus, explaining everything about Kinosaki and its onsen culture or simply taking care of your room. You can simply relax and enjoy yourself.

Free private parking is also available on site. The entire property is non-smoking, while guests can smoke in the designated smoking area. Amazing hotel. Not a cheap one, but it is definitelly worth the money. We definitelly recommend to take a room with a view, seeing mountains in the morning was wonderful. We didn't have a ryokan-type room but were still amazed by the quiality of everything - cleanliness, design, etc. Our room had a capsule coffee machine, a set for drinking tea, hair brushes, hair pins and other small things that added a pinch of comfort to our stay. The hotel also provides guests with Japanese-style clothing: a set of a "shirt" and pants, and a yukata. You can walk in it everywhere in the hotel which was very nice. The hotel has public onsens on two floors, both have open-air baths. The staff is very understanding and would help with the rules of visiting. You can also book private onsens that turned out to be not very expensive. Sometimes the hotel holds special events. We managed to visit stargazing and saw Jupiter through a telescope while eating sweet potatos! The hotel provides a bus that regularly travels through the Arima village. You can also call the hotel to pick you up. The village itself is very beautiful. There is a ropeway to the nearby mountain. I heard you can also hike to the summit.

Very cute town, friendly staff and can pre book private onsen. Traditional rooms are very clean!
1. They have a free car park space onsite. 2. They provide free shuttle bus that runs from 4 pm to 10pm to take guests/pick up to/from the town centre where all the public onsens and shops located. 3. The hotel has its own private onsen. After trying both the hotel's and one of the public onsens, I like the hotel's onsen better as it was not crowded as the public one. 4. The breakfast they served was good. We quite enjoyed it. 5. Friendly staff 6. Lovely Ryokan
Exceptional customer service at this family run Ryokan (thanks to our host, Van). The traditional rooms are gorgeous and the 3 private onsens are great. Whilst quite a bit not to my (somewhat unadventurous) taste, the traditional japanese food offered as part of the stay is exquisitely prepared and of very high quality.
The room was very well kept and clean. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. About 5 mins walk from the station. The ryokan allows one free use of the private onsen for 45 mins which you have to book during check-in.
Amazing Ryokan experience, we had the tajima beef kaiseki which was phenomenal. They accommodated for my husband's shellfish allergy as well. The room was clean and spacious and the service was excellent. There are nice private onsens too on the property. Our host Ayuri was extremely energetic and friendly, I had seen good reviews about her from other people here and she definitely lives upto it! Ayuri さん、 英語頑張ってくださいね! We wish you the best for everything ☺️
Ryokan Tsubakino location is almost central towards the Kinosaki Onsen district but yet still hidden in the quiet side of the whole town area, which made it a perfect location to stay. With its central point, walking to the town's famous onsens are manageable. Food provided by the hotel, Breakfast and Dinner Kaiseki Menu were superb and very fresh as well, thoroughly replenished our day.
Perfect location with enclosed balcony overlooking the river, within easy walking distance of all seven onsens. The attentive service was exceptional. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, including catering for us being vegetarian. The ryokan and room were stunning and the private onsen a treat!
Definitely the best stay in Japan so far! The host and his family made us felt welcomed as soon as we arrived creating a warm atmosphere. We enjoyed a really nice tea ceremony conducted by the host’s mum. Our room overlooked an amazing garden, was very clean and spacious. We rent Yukatas for free, and the host was always so enthusiastic to help us taking photos. The ryokan has two private onsen, both very beautiful, but it is very well located to use any of the public ones too. Last but not least, the host drove us back to the station.
Traditional inn (ryokan) with fabulous dinner and breakfast that were works of art, which also included tickets to all the local onsens. Very hospitable and helpful staff. Large room and decently sized bed. Lovely atmosphere with their own private hot springs bath that you can book.
