The inn was so beautiful and many wonderful qualities. It's location is in the middle of a lively street full of shops and restaurants and a close (though uphill) walk to a temple. The in-room amenities were wonderful: whole coffee beans, a grinder, a coffee pot and cups, a separate teapot and teacups, pajamas, robes, and any necessary toiletries. The provided breakfast and dinner was delicious, traditional Japanese fare with English menus to explain the nightly courses (though I'd still suggest having a translator app). Last, but certainly not least: the baths were incredible. I appreciate that the private baths did not need a reservation and were all themed differently. So relaxing!! All my worries melted away here.

Free Wi-Fi is available in the public area and in some rooms. We were extremely fortunate to stay in the Choseiden cottage. The very generous layout and views over the garden towards the faraway mountains, the scrolls, the paintings, the wooden furniture of this once tea house, not too forget the private bath (“Onsen”) with its glass panel onto the forest were exquisite. The staff were most helpful and kind. Very warm thoughts go to Reina who brought us our meals and guided us through the intricacies of the local cuisine, while answering with a joyful warmth our relentless barrage of questions about Japanese culture and herself. A stay which will linger!

With a restaurant, the 3-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. Private parking is available on site. Great location at an unbeatable price. Ritsurin Garden -- 15 minute walk, lovely park across the street, airport bus stop at opposite corner. Nice to have free ice cream too!

Fantastic view. Lovely onsen. I changed my plans just to enjoy it for another day. Note: there is a shuttle bus pick-up at the port (bus will come within 15 minutes when you call (before 6pm)) - you'll see the pick-up point in front of the low building). Free WiFi access is available at the lobby and in all guestrooms. The staff was super friendly and the hotel facilities was top notch. Really easy to rent a car at the hotel to experience Shodoshima.

Tatami (woven-straw) floors and shoji paper screens create a zen atmosphere in the rooms at Kotohira Onsen Kotosankaku Hiten. An en suite bathroom with a bathtub and Western toilet is attached. Some rooms include a private hot-spring bath. Kaiseki dinner was excellent. It would be helpful for some type of translation on what the food is and how to eat in a prepared written form in English. Service was great. Breakfast had quite a good selection. Location is definitely a great plus, only 3-5 minutes on foot from the train station.
