The staff was so accommodating, friendly, helpful and kind. The value and quality of the experience was well worth the price. My family and I really enjoyed the onsen, free matcha, hot chocolate, ice cream and ramen. We had a great time using the free massage chairs as well. The breakfast buffet was such a complete and delicious way to start our travel days. It felt like a home away from home and I will book here again! The hotel even helped us ship our luggages to the next hotel right un the comfort of the lobby. The tatami mats were beautiful and soft as we walked through the hotel. The elevators arrived promptly and ran smoothly. Overall, I would 100% recommend this hotel. The location is in a premier spot near Kyoto station and the temple just a walking distance away. I wasn't sure at first (as I had the whole responsibility on me to decide for the group I was with) and if you're on a budget like we were, well this is a spend ..BUT..so happy I booked Ryokan Sumiya Kihon. As a tattooed group we had to rent private. It was hilarious to be butt naked with your best friends and ridiculously relaxing. The food is delicious. Breakfast= huge but Dinner = a little small for our crew. (Spanish/Australian mix). It's fine. Just bring snacks ;).

The property is less than 1 km from the city centre and a 10-minute walk from Nijo Castle. Hotel facilities were amazing with a beautiful garden in the middle. The room itself (Deluxe Suite) was also perfect. The interior decor created a very relaxing ambience. Everything they provided in the room was also top notch. Location is very convenient with all attractions easily accessible by taxi or metro. Kyoto is not big so it is easy to get around. Service was also perfect.

This 3-star ryokan offers a lift and free shuttle service. The property offers allergy-free units and is situated 14 km from Keirin-ji Temple. My goodness, what a beautiful spot to stay. Everything was top notch, from the shuttle, to the staff, to the rooms, meals and amenities! I was a welcomed change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and area. The food prepared at dinner was almost too beautiful to eat, not to mention delicious! We had a private Onsen on our balcony and it was worth the extra money to be able to use it at our leisure. I cannot say enough about it. If given the opportunity, stay here, you won’t be disappointed!!
