I can't find the words to describe how perfect my stay was. The room was immaculate, the bedding extremely comfortable. The toiletries were top of the range. And the breakfasts... absolutely delicious! Located 2 minutes from the center, this hotel is ideal for a relaxing stay in Shaxi. The host, Lynn, was lovely and always helpful to this French tourist who doesn't speak Chinese (me)! She also sells pottery featuring the local cat mascot: Wa Mao. If I wasn't backpacking for six months, I would have loved to buy some, they're so cute. Just go! ☀️

Shaxi Upstay truly is a hidden paradise with committed owner, Dahua and his family. It felt like a natural home away from home. I was so impressed with the level of comfort and attention to detail. I’ve visited Shaxi Upstay twice — first time with Pavel Dvořák and his travel agency — and I was mesmerized by the luxurious accommodations. The staff were also excellent, which is why I chose to return for my next trip. Dahua (an experienced travel guide - can arrange even a Roadtrip in Tibet) welcomed us with tea and delicious fruits, making the check-in experience memorable from the start. His wife is an excellent cook, so you’ll also enjoy high-quality local cuisine—don’t miss the yak steak, it’s truly delicious! If you're on a long trip, you can ask the staff to do your laundry. It only takes a few hours, and your clothes come back fresh and ready for the next leg of your journey. Looking forward to visit Shaxi again an stay in Dahuas Hotel.
