One of the few places nearby Singasari Temple to stay... so one might be ready to settle on less than nice.. But Safira Family Residence was quite nice. Since it was a bit more basic than maybe some westerners would be used to, even after I booked the owners messaged me explaining they didn't have AC, and the bathroom was shared.. and if we wanted to we could cancel, no problem. But, since none of this was a problem (while E Java IS rather hot and so AC might sound like a necessity, Singahasari is higher up, and therefore cooler, and the fan was more than adequate). Also, although not just out of the city, but out of Singasari town, there were plenty of nearby restaurants and convenience stores, etc...

The best part of my stay was definitely the staff-led tour to Bromo. They organized everything from transport to snacks and even they show me a place to rent jacket, it felt like I was being taken care of by a friend. Watching the sunrise from the viewpoint was breathtaking, and I was glad I booked it through the hostel.

Room was spacious, clean. Breakfast was tasty and had a lot of options. Funny thing is that on breakfast there was no knife anywhere and staff had to bring it to the table on request. Best thing here are the staff which was very friendly and helpful to organize tour to Bromo and Tumpak waterfall. We actually extended our stay for 2 more nights.

The best hostel I ve ever stay! Hostel run by amazing family. Warm welcoming even tho I arrived almost at 4AM, the owner welcome me with smile, answer to all questions, help with finding things to do around, scooter, coffee, laundry, just everything. Delicious food. Lovely family make this place special. I book with them also tour to the waterfall, Bromo and Ijen and got breakfast to go, and lunch when I come back 🥰 Thank you!

Very nice and clean hostel with nice terraces and large kitchen and chill area. The hostel owners are very very nice and will help you with everything! The beds and rooms are very comfy and clean, would definitely recommend.
