The hosts were amazing. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. It was a much needed respite after a long day of travel. The house was inviting and clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. Breakfast was made to order and there were so many options. It was delicious. We would absolutely recommend this lovely B and B.

The Carrick Gate is just an all round great place. Located on the river right in town. So clean, newly refurbished, comfortable and excellent Continental breakfast with loads of choices. We were the only ones there being winter so it was lovely and quiet. We booked late and had a bit of delay making phone contact for the key, but that was fixed up quickly for us. We spent a fantastic 2 nights here with our dog. The cabins are spotless, very cosy! The food in the restaurant was lovely, we ate in it both nights. The barman in particular was fantastic and we had him tortured with questions about his sheep!!! Felt like a real home from home, we thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to return!

The apartment was clearly put together very thoughtfully and with a lot of care: three generously sized bedrooms with ensuites, a comfortable kitchen/dining/living space, and everything bright and spacious with very soft carpets. The house and its setting are lovely, with a few sheep wandering through the front lawn and views over the heather from all directions. Over the few days we stayed we must have seen a rainbow out of every window. The house seems to stay warm and dry in the wind and rain, and there's enough entrance hall downstairs to get rid of wet clothes, muddy boots and sandy bits before you go upstairs. The location is perfect for striking out on day-trips in all directions with only a short drive to the coast. We certainly hope to return and stay longer so we can explore the area more fully.
