The room was spacious and very, very clean. The balcony was the perfect spot to relax and listen to the birds and monkeys (and even spot one every once in a while!). Kumari, the owner, was very helpful. The location is excellent - it is walking distance to the bus station and to the ecotourism office and meeting point for the activities in the park.

Wonderful house, Lawrence was super helpful (even helping us get discounted tickets); Rajesh was so kind and drove us to some places we wanted to see and dropped us off at the bus. The whole family is just lovely and it shows they care a lot!

Our host met us as we arrived, and welcomed us. We were helped with trips, interesting things to do locally, and also with ordering tuktuks or taxis depending on the kind of activity. The food was really lovely. Our bedrooms and bathrooms all comfy and clean. We enjoyed our stay very much. One of our trips was to a cooking lesson which Phillip arranged - it was really great ( just an example of the things he arranged for us)

Oriole homestay exceeded our expectations in terms of comfort, hospitality, and overall experience. The room was spacious (the biggest we got during our travels in India), and it had a nice big balcony (more like a terrace). The bathroom is also big, providing hot and warm water; a shower is a bit separated from the toilet so not everything is wet after showering. The hosts, Mr. Girish and Mrs. Sunila, were a real gem - they were warm and friendly and they helped us with our tickets (go to the martial show, it is really fun to see), and all other bookings (nearby trips, intercity transports, etc.). All their recommendations for nearby attractions and restaurants were excellent. We had breakfast at a homestay on our last morning, and Mrs. Sunila cooked great food, and we had a very refreshing conversation with Mr. Girish who is an expert in Thekkady animals and forests, and knows a lot about world animals in general. Mr. Girish, I will read the book soon! Finally, the location of the place was great as it was situated in a peaceful area but also close to a few good restaurants and a walk distance from the attractions.

We have stayed in beautiful homestays before, but this one was exceptional. The host family is very kind and welcoming. We enjoyed a wonderful cooking session with them. They gave us great recommendations for what to do and where to find good food. With their own unique and beautiful style they created a little oasis in the middle of Kumily. We enjoyed our time there very much. Thank you!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed there for 5 nights, and by the end, we felt like family. The rooms were clean and offered a lovely view of the trees, where we could spot some animals in the afternoon. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and the lunch and dinner menus had a lot of variety to choose from.

    Great hotel, Friendly staff, nice food and good coffee. They really made an effort to give a Western look. Beds were very comfortable, like the shower. Nice location: only a 10 minute walk to the parking lot, where the busses to Periyar park start. A lot of shops in the street and an ATM across.

Very close to interesing must see locations such as periyar national park, elephant junction, rose park, spice garden, tea factory etc. The host can arrange visits to these places upon request and ensures your stay is comfortable with home made food which is simply delicious.

    The place is very neatly maintained, an authentic kerala style cottage to stay with family. Weather wss very good and the room was very well accessible near the boat house, elephant camp and main town. Very spacious car parking and delicious break fast provided here. I recommend any small, big family to visit and stay here as the rooms are very spacious, neatly maintained and safe for kids too.
