I wish I had found this little gem earlier. I actually stayed here twice about one week apart. The two experiences were worlds apart and it had NOTHING to do with the property but with impolite rude selfish guests. The quiet and tranquility the second stay was exactly what I wanted. After a grueling 8 day Kili trek I was exhausted. All I wanted was a shower, bed, and sleep. My room was clean, nicely appointed and spacious enough for me. It is easy to see someone cares a lot about this place with all the nice details evident everywhere: international outlets, toiletries, overhead bed fan etc. The breakfast was ample and filling. I simply wanted to rest my weary body. Unfortunately, the common areas are a bit snug but really that is not the issue. The dining area consist of one single large round table that sits about 10 persons. A bit snug. There are swings which are quite close and three swinging mattresses - a treat indeed. It is a nice lounge area albeit snug. The issue is when other guests behave as if this property is a HOSTEL when it is not. It is a hotel. Such individuals which are usually young and rude and want to talk loudly and “party” are the ones to ruin this lovely property. Common areas are meant to be enjoyed by all guests act respectfully and behave properly. I highly recommend this hotel.

Amazing house, exactly what one would want before or after climbing Mt Kili. Simba and his staff are wonderful and incredibly accommodating. Good location near to Moshi center but far enough away to avoid the noise. Would happily stay again. Thank you, Simba!

I chose Shimbwe because it is located in Mt Kilimanjaro near Materuni Waterfall. The owner & staff are most welcoming & helpful. The booking.com description is accurate and the managenent waa very responsive to email ahead of my arrival. The home-cooked food is excellent. The view of Mt Kilimanjaro peak is mesmerizing when the clouds clear. The highlight of my stay was the day hike to Materuni waterfall. Baraka is an outstanging guide, so knowledgable, personable, sharing info about the nature of the area and Chagga culture. We had a terrific day of hiking through this beautiful area.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Nyota Safari Lodge! The staff were warm and attentive, and Daudi, the owner, was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We arrived a bit late, and the next morning we had to leave earlier than breakfast hours due to a last-minute change in our safari itinerary. Daudi went above and beyond—he prepared a full breakfast to go for us! Late at night, he set out eggs, bread, jam, juice, and hot water for coffee and tea so we could enjoy a quick snack before our early departure. The lodge itself is clean, cozy, and very functional—a cute place with great value for the price. If you're looking for a place to stay in Moshi, let Nyota Safari Lodge be your first choice! They also organize tours through their sister company, Nomad Explorer Tours, which I highly recommend. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish.

    The chalets are very smart and super clean and management is very responsive and helpful . We managed to get a very yummy dinner prepared on short notice late in the night as we were very hungry after a delayed flight . Chalets have a cute walk way , which is a pleasant surprise as the entry to this property near the parking area is underwhelming but once you get to the chalets , it’s a calming experience.
