The building itself is an experience to stay in; very nostalgic and cozy. Bunk beds were comfy and clean. As others have mentioned, remember to bring your own groceries as the food in Magome town is quite limited. Make sure to check out the gymnasium!

Private parking is available on site. Out of all the hotels I’ve stayed in in Japan, this one is by far the best. The room is very clean and fragrant, and has complete amenities in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. It even has a washing machine that is easy to use. I also love the balcony - it has a great view of the train station. The staff are really nice. They communicate and respond well to questions. They even offered me extra bottled water when I requested for more. One of them also helped me with my luggage delivery even though he was on his break. The hotel is in a perfect location, just beside the bus/train station. There’s a FamilyMart nearby and everything is a short walking distance away. I really got my money’s worth. I would definitely stay here again! I had a lovely time.

The onsens were great as well!

Less than 1 km from Takayama Station and 2.9 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, the property features a bar and massage services. The property is allergy-free and is located 49 km from Gero Station. Absolutely perfect, the best hotel experience in our 3 week Japan trip! Only a bit negative side is that there is only japanese breakfast option, however taken all the other things into consideration, still 10/10 experience.

Please pay in cash or by card upon check-in. Guests under 12 years old are exempt from the lodging tax. Lovely staff and very clean property. We stayed in the dorm room and it was spacious and the facilities were all very well kept. Quick walk to the train/bus station and lots of restaurants and shop also a short walk away

Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. The lodging was excellent with the ultimate Japanese experience. The room had every immensity possible and the bed was really comfortable. We would differently stay here again.

Excellent location near Takayama station, attentive staff, great onsen facilities and breakfast. There isn't much to do in Takayama after a certain hour in Winter but that is ok, since the ryokan has a very inviting area where you can relax, read, try calligraphy and origami, have some tea... I left my mobile phone in the room and enjoyed the entertainment provided there, completely agnostic of the outside world. Great way to disconnect!

This is an Onsen Paradise!! Is like the Onsen amusement park! The place is incredible! So many services!! Everything is just amazing; the town, the hotel, the room, the baths… they even allow you to check the bath of another hotel, in case you did not have enough! I have been in many Ryokan and this was TOP!

Located in Nakatsugawa, さかのみち-sakanomichi features a shared lounge, restaurant, bar, and free WiFi throughout the property. The property is set 7.3 km from Otsumago, 8.5 km from Kotoku-ji Temple and 8.5 km from Sekibutsu Kanzan Jittoku Statue. The inn provides a hot tub and luggage storage space. The Sakanomichi is a gem. My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights in February. Ken san and Yuki san were delightful. The property was very clean and comfortable. They renovated the inn themselves and you can see care and attention in every detail from materials used to decor. The food was delicious and much of it was grown (rice) or made (plum wine) by Ken or Yuki. They provided great recommendations for restaurants and side trips. They ensured we were prepared with all the details required to ensure we had successful adventures. We are so lucky to have we picked the Sakonomichi. It was sugoi!!!

Nestled in the old district and within distance to all attractions in Gujo. However the stairway going up to the bedrooms is steep and a challenge to older folks. Otherwise a beautiful ryokan to experience Japanese living.
