Nelly Bay was beautiful but Magnetic Island was stunning and relaxing. We hiked to watch sunset, saw so much wildlife (a koala, echidna, wallaby, stingray, turtle) and the views and different beaches were all magnificent (Arcadia, Geoffrey Bay, Fort Walk, Nelly Bay). We took a car and it was the best decision as the bus service seemed to have quite a wait. Overall we loved Maggie Island, the getaway was just what I needed and I will definitely go back.Guest review byHeatherAustralia - 10.0

Magnetic Island is beautiful with bush trails to many beaches and vantage points. The flora is wonderfully diverse with giant banyan trees, tropical plants, vines and gum trees - wild koalas are easy to spot on some of the trails. The vibe is low key and nicely humble and it's very easy to get to via Townsville and a short ferry ride. You don't need a car as the bus runs regularly across the island to all the best places. There are also plenty of options for scooter and jeep hire.Guest review byJaneAustralia - 10.0

Arcadia is a great place to visit and to stay on Magnetic Island. The main beach, which is part of the Nature reserve, is lovely to walk around and also to see Rock Wallabies in the early evening. Alma Bay is particularly good for young children, with plenty of shade and grassy areas in addition to a small It's only a short walk in the the main centre at Nelly Beach, the Ferry Terminal and a well stocked supermarket and bottle shop.Guest review byPeterAustralia - 10.0
Loved the area.
Loved the area. Felt a very secluded part of the island, so we just loved that. Beautiful right on the beachfront. No road in front, completely relaxing, felt very different than other parts of the island.Guest review byDeeAustralia - 10.0
A great location for visiting Magnetic Island.
A great location for visiting Magnetic Island. Bakery was a gem and the cafe opposite the accommodation. The island bus was excellent costing $1 for travelling on it more than once during the day. Lots of great scenic walks.Guest review byKerryAustralia - 10.0
Of all the beautiful bays at Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay...
Of all the beautiful bays at Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay is by far the nicest one. It has great open views of the ocean, a long beach front with beautiful palms and trees providing the necessary shade, and a small but lively little boulevard with a well-assorted local Convenience Store, a few nice beachy shops and a good range of bars and restaurants that offer something for everyone. I specially recommend Barefoot Restaurant and Gallery, which is something you might not expect on a location like this, but they have some beautiful artwork and their food is truly exceptional. All in all, Horseshoe Bay just has that nice chilled island vibe that you're looking for on your vacay.Guest review byCindyAustralia - 8.0

By taking our car over on the barge we could travel around the island to the different beaches. It has some lovely places to see, some can only be accessed by car. The bus service appeared popular with people to get around the main three bays on the island. Great relaxing holiday destination.Guest review byFionaAustralia - 8.0

Nelly Bay is a beautiful, low-key, welcoming and relaxing place. Walking along the path through the marina was a favourite. We loved running and walking along the Gabul pathway with the view of Geoffory Bay at the top. Cafe Del Sol has amazing coffee and great, relaxed atmosphere - a great way to start the day. Buses were the best way to get around the island.Guest review byBaker - 8.0
Horseshoe Bay is at the northern end of Magnetic Island.
Horseshoe Bay is at the northern end of Magnetic Island. It’s not as windy as some of the other bays. And it’s a good spot to do walks from, like the Forts Walk. There is a long stretch of beach to walk on and explore. And lots of water activities to enjoy.Guest review bySharonAustralia
