The main reason is skiing but the other reason is the hotel! In this accommodation you’ll find everything you need. The breakfast buffet is really good and well thought out with many options. The spa is amazing, I especially enjoyed the outdoor sauna and the jacuzzi but mostly on the day that we took off from skiing because in the afternoon it gets really crowded inside and out. There’s a van that gets you to the ski lifts everyday which is an almost 3 min drive. We didn’t get the evening buffet but we loved the food in the restaurant that has quite reasonably prices and very polite and lovely stuff. The room was spacious!Guest review byEvaGreece

My family and I stayed in Borovets in early May, and even though the ski lift was out of service, we had a wonderful time. We explored several nature trails, like the scenic Beli Iskar path, which were perfect for family walks surrounded by stunning mountain views. The kids loved our horseback riding adventure through the Rila Mountains, and we easily spent a relaxing half-day at the hotel’s spa, unwinding in the pool and saunas. We were visiting family who live nearby and exploring the area so it was the perfect base for us. The nearby Green House Restaurant was absolutely brilliant- we are both vegetarian and they had lots of options for us. There are a few shops nearby and a slightly larger supermarket a few minutes walk away. There’s lots of cycle lanes - although we didn’t see very many cyclists. We had a hire car which was essential for visiting the surrounding villages, hilltop monasteries ( of which there are many) , waterfalls and hiking trails.. and towns. It’s just over an hours drive to Sofia on the ‘motorway’ if you go don’t attempt to find parking in the city centre- it’s two hour max in the blue zone and you have to pay by app.. outside the centre you can often find free parking spaces.. then either walk or use public transport to the centre. Great villa in silent area with fantastic view on the mountains and fields from the bedrooms, balcony and terrace. The villa is new , clean and very comfortable, equipped with everything you need and even more. Supermarkets, restrants are in 15 min drive, many walking trails around: Seven Lakes, Rila monastery, Borovets etc. And Lili the Host is amaizing: very friendly and helpful and available in any time. There is not much to do in Dolna Banya.
There is not much to do in Dolna Banya. The town looks in bad shape except for the newly renovated center of the town. Gloomy and burdensome atmosphere and unfriendly people on the streets. I wouldn't recomend going out of the hotels.Guest review byNikolayBulgaria - 10

Etropole is just an expected lovely surprise! The city itself is not too big but the surrounding are beautiful. We found an amazing track (called The echo of a bell ringing) to the St. Trinity monastery which was absolutely gorgeous. Nearby there is a waterfall and an amazing view to Stara Planina (the Balkan Mountains). The hotel was nice with great view and private parking. It's a great place for a city break. The food in the restaurant was nice. What we didn't like was that the hot water in the hotel was not with optimal water temperature for a shower. At the reception they explained that they are using solar water heaters and these days the weather was cloudy. Nice slopes. Expensive hotels close to the slopes. But you can stay at any hotel and come up to the slope by car, 10..15 BGN the parking fee. The Rila hotel is cool (the indoors pool) but you need to plan in advance the stay. Also, if you do not have kids try to plan your stay when schools are not in vacation in Romania and/or England.Guest review byHritucRomania
