    The town is one of the hubs of a rural, mountain region and...

    The town is one of the hubs of a rural, mountain region and is a good base to operate out of. I went specifically to cycle on some back roads, which are wonderful. The city seems to be investing in tourism in the region, and the cycling could be even better if the town would pay more attention to this kind of visitor - for example, the historic, and mostly abandoned rail line would make a spectacular bike trail. I found the food options to be lacking, but I was there on a Monday and Tuesday, so this may not be a good review for that. It is an easy escape from Rio de Janeiro and I certainly recommend it.

    It's a very cozy and nice small town, which looks a lot like...

    It's a very cozy and nice small town, which looks a lot like a movie set for the old movies. Plenty of nice restaurants and during the weekend you can hear serenadas on the main square which is very lovely and absolutely for free. A couple of beautiful nature spots are around, so if you are travelling by car - you will find waht to do during the weekend
