Nestled in the heart of the Alps, this traditional-style hotel is surrounded by breathtaking scenery, high mountain passes, and peaceful trails that invite adventure and reflection alike. As a weary traveler, I arrived tired – but quickly transformed into a delighted guest. The warm welcome, the spotless room, and the quiet Alpine charm worked their magic instantly. The hotel is impeccably maintained and perfectly clean throughout. My room was cozy, calm, and pristine – just what you need after a long day on the road or in the mountains. The breakfast deserves a special mention: generous, varied, and absolutely delicious – there’s something for everyone, whether you prefer sweet, savory, or something light. The host was incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. And with a Coop supermarket just steps away, everything you might need is close at hand. Whether you’re hiking the scenic trails or riding through Switzerland’s most iconic mountain routes, Hotel Mira is the perfect place to rest, recharge, and feel truly welcomed. Very peaceful with nice alpine views and a good base for exploring both the village of Disentis and the Oberalp pass. Check in was easy with the staff speaking good English whenever my rather poor Schweizer Deutsch let me down, and the breakfast was excellent. The room had all the amenities promised and was remarkably comfortable given it's size, and the whole stay was excellent value. The buffet breakfast offers some options, I would suggest some omlette, not only boiled eggs. The hotel has also a restaurant and a bar. If you arrive by train from Andermatt, you can get down at Acla da Fontauna station, just before Disentis, it's much closer than Disentis. I have also received a message from the hotel that they can provide free transfer from train station, but didn't require it since Acla da Funtauna is 8 minutes walking distance. We stayed for one night at the hostel, there are hotels available but the hostel was enough practical and sufficient for us, family of 4 for one night. I wish we could stay longer as we loved it, everything exceeded our expectations and more. The views are stunning, the whole area is well organised with plenty to do. Would recommend to all our friends.T Here is a visitor pass available which covers a gondola, ski lifts and trains, a great value for your money. The owners are very nice hosts, location is awesome if you're looking for scenery and calmness, very comfortable sleeping. We have received a complimentary upgrade (were super happy to use a terrace, with comfy chairs, chaise-longues, trampoline and even pet rabbits!) The breakfast was very generous, keeping in mind that at the date we stayed, there were not many guests. Lovely, historic town with a range of facilities The area was new to us but offered an unusual range of alpine experiences: Up the cablecars of the region for high mountain landscapes (The Guest Card issued by the apartment owner on behalf of the town was great value, giving free unlimited rides on the cable cars); Walks from nearby villages through lovely green meadows (And the occasional walkers suspension bridge); Trips into side valleys for wilder country and real mountain peace; Just over the Lucomagno Pass into Ticino for some of the loveliest of alpine meadows; and down river to the grandeur of the Rhein-Schlucht (Gorge)Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom
