It was modern, impeccably clean, and very cozy—just as described on the website. Everything we needed for cooking was on hand, and we were greeted with a delightful surprise: a small, decorated Christmas tree and Christmas cookies as a welcome gift. The reception staff were always helpful and friendly, and the daily housekeeping service was a big plus. They not only cleaned but also restocked the washing machine tablets each day, and we found dishwasher tablets ready to use upon arrival. We really enjoyed the plentiful breakfast, which offered a wide variety of options. Although the selection stayed mostly the same each day, it was still perfectly fine—especially with fresh bread available daily. We also tried the sauna, which was a bit on the pricier side but definitely worth it. They provided bathrobes, slippers, and towels, so there was no need to bring anything extra. The relaxation area outside the sauna offered tea, coffee, infused water, and snacks, making it a very pleasant experience. The gym was decently equipped with everything we needed for a good workout, though a few of the stretching mats were a little worn. That’s a minor complaint for an otherwise excellent stay. The city itself is not exceptional but offers a good base for people who want to visit the surrounding area (Bohemian Switzerland in Czech Republic, Saxon Switzerland in Germany). A great launching pad for walking in the area. Hřensko itself is fairly basic, but with a few decent restaurants serving local dishes. Plenty of tat to buy on street stalls too if you want presumably knock-off Nike hoodies, watches where the hands fall off or a wide selection of butterfly knives. It's a base for hiking, not a place you would visit in itself. Access is easy by train and a 1 minute ferry trip across the Elbe. The center of Chribska includes a bakery, electric vehicle charging stations. Tourists come here mainly for hiking and seeing a natural landmark Panska Skala. Really nice walks around, hiking trails, forest, etc! Very beautiful and the trails are very clearly marked. I recommend the app mapy.cz to find the trails from the village. We were without a car which was a bit tricky because the bus from Decin is not easy to find, and when we hiked from there to other locations we had to order a taxi back which was pricey (but we walk very slowly, if you’re faster you can make it a round trip or hike back). But taking the bus from Janov back to Decin was very easy. If you’re vegetarian or vegan take in account that you’ll have to eat mostly potatoes and tomatoes all over the area. There is a small mini market in Janov. Also, most people in the whole area don’t speak English at all - only German and Czech! Really liked the area, the location of the hotel. Hospitality was fine but some things were really amateuristic or even unprofessional, like very bad English and / or German speaking staff. The restaurant is an absolute no go. A home made version of mint tea seems to be a tea bag in hot water and home made fries come from the freezer. Hrensko is beautifully placed village, destroyed by selling stands with all kind of "garbage". I do understand that this is city on the border (CZ-DE) so "overboarder trade" is local business, however either those kind of stalls should be placed outside of the walking center (e.g. on the river bank on the way to the border), or it should be nicely designed, not to destroy the beauty of the village. Lovely, very picturesque, nice restaurants, very affordable for small budget, too. Restaurant Ve dvore in Decin, duck was very nice, didn't care much for the bread dumplings Restaurant Bamboo in Hrensko, pleasant. Hotel restaurant Vypres, very nice. Getting around in Decin is easy. However, the public transport schedules have changes in certain periods in the year, so read bus schedules carefully, or you might find out a certain bus doesn't ride anymore at a certain time after (f.e. 3 september) a certain date. Tip for hikers: Google maps isn't very precise with the yellow trail's starting point: to avoid wandering, ask Tourist information the precise starting point!Guest review byBaruchIsrael - 8.0

That corner of Czechia has been described as the lowest point of the country in elevation, and also in taste. There are numerous shops, all run by Vietnamese, selling the same unbranded shirts, shoes, etc. Anything that was branded was of dubious authenticity. I was caught out a few times as credit cards are generally unknown and ATM's will charge CZK195 (!) per cash transaction. Don't expect a convenience store selling day-to-day items, as the shops I visited focussed mainly on bottled drinks, alcohol and cigarettes.
