- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 5 reviews“Our stay at this home was absolutely wonderful! The place is beautifully arranged, with elegant and comfortable furniture, and everything was thoughtfully prepared and fully equipped. I truly felt at ease, just like being at home — every corner reflected great taste and attention to detail. We enjoyed every moment there, from the peaceful atmosphere and cleanliness to the comfort and relaxing vibes the house gave us. It’s rare to find a place that leaves such a positive impression. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a classy, comfortable stay that feels just like home. If I ever visit the area again, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back.”Guest review byAMINAHSaudi Arabia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 540 reviewsThis was a gem amongst the 18 European accomodation bookings we have had in the last 5 weeks. Our room, including ensuite, was of good size and thoughtfully detailed with all that we needed. Cleanliness would have frustrated a forensic investigator looking for finger prints. Breakfast offerings were very good and individual requirements were fully satisfied. The free on site parking arrangement was one of the best for convenience and peace of mind from damage ( the fear of a hire car renter).Guest review byLeighAustralia

Such a beautiful old hotel in the cutest village. The staff in the hotel were so friendly and accommodating especially the receptionist upon arrival and one particular waiter who really looked after us. Breakfast was really good and we ate our evening meals at in the hotel restaurant which was very good.Guest review bySaraSweden

Ettals main, and only, attraction is the Abbey.
Ettals main, and only, attraction is the Abbey. Which is certainly impressive. You'll most likely visit Ettal for the region, as it is a great point to start your hikes and/or visit Oberammergau and Garmisch-Partenkichen. Munchen and Innsbruck are only an hour drive away.Guest review byArthurNetherlands - 8.0

It's a wonderful little place.
It's a wonderful little place. A small village that has a lot to offer: places to get a peat bath, walks on the moors, bakery and cake shop, a little village shop, restaurants, butcher ... It's so quiet and peaceful.Guest review byAnnaCzech Republic - 6.0

Being in Oberammergau is like walking into a storybook - beautiful and serene. We loved our meal at Ella's cafe, and we enjoyed strolling through the village. The mountain air is so refreshing - gorgeous in summer!Guest review byNAVUnited States - 8.0
This busy hotel has the feeling of a youth hostel.
This busy hotel has the feeling of a youth hostel. Rooms are simply but practically equipped. There’s a constant coming and going of tourists. Unfortunately, I couldn’t bring me dog to breakfast. I wasn’t told that outside it is possible. Breakfast was basic. Scrambled eggs came in squared chunks, thus probably defrozen. Lots of plastic (Marmelade, Butter,…) The whole personnel is polish. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, I had just expected a Bavarian host. All in all my stay here felt like holidays off an assembly line.Guest review byKatrinGermany - 10.0

It really was a delightful place to stay comfortable friendly warm easy to get to everything was fantastic only thing I can think of was that perhaps the shower could be changed slightly it wasn’t terribly easy to use, it wasn’t a big problem at all but it might be nice to been able to take the shower handle off the pole!Guest review byMaria - 8.0

The Pro: pay for the “half-board”, the restaurant has amazing buffet breakfast & lunch, seat served dinners. Beautiful, peaceful & safe location. Room privacy & though there were a lot of guests, the buildings & grounds made it still feel personal. Free parking on site. Lovely walking lake with children park/swimming right across. Most staff were welcoming & helpful. Great location to enjoy Alps & other outdoor activities; free wifi throughout their campus. Cons: dusty, perhaps they could downsize all the decor “stuff” & cut their cleaning time; dirty, old carpets (some rooms renovated with parquet); ragged towels; had same tablecloth at assigned seat for nearly 2 weeks; some staff were just downright rude; no air conditioning & no screens on windows… summer is hot so you need to open windows but it invites in all the insects; all activities cost $$$, I say “all” but really they don’t offer much as far as organized activities (surely a missed opportunity here). Know before you go… take necessary hygiene products (rural area with limited immediate access), no laundromat though they will wash your clothing for a huge cost per item; no real introduction to the facility so you will flounder until you figure out the flow; only in German (thank goodness for Google translate!) & some staff irritated that guests don’t speak German (those that do tend to get better service by these staff members as well); smoking allowed everywhere outside so dining outdoor on their lively patio or opening room windows does have added risk. Bottom line: this hotel needs to decide what it’s brand is. Marketed as a wellness spa but not cohesive theme (smoking, lack of wellness opportunities etc). It could easily become a vacation retreat with real activities that people book a year in advance to enjoy. Altogether, I will likely stay here again when I have to be in the area for work.Guest review bySarahUnited States - 10.0

If you stay in Unterammergau, you must be aware of your reasons for staying there, it is a very secluded mountain village with nothing there, you need a car to travel to there and around there, there is no other mode of transport, except bus or train and coffee, groceries, anything, needs to be bought somewhere else.Guest review byMartinaUnited States
