Lindau was a nice 2 day visit - unfortunately, virtually none of the museums and sites accept the Bodensee Plus Card - a rather expensive 3 or 7 day pass that was sold by the Lindau Tourist Information Center - that was a surprise. Memmingen is a very nice smaller city and definitely worth visiting. The historic centre is only a five minute walk from the hotel or from the station/bus stop. The transport links close to the hotel are very easy to reach on foot (for train trips to Munich, for example). This town in a valley within the Allgau Alps is out of a picture book. We came specifically for the "Almabtrieb" or the "Viehscheid," when the cows from upper pastures on the mountains are paraded down into the valley pastures for the winter. It is a super festive time in Alpine villages, and Obertsdorf really knows how to celebrate with music, beer, food, and all types of festivities. There are many beautiful shops in town, terrific places to eat and drink (everything from cafes to beer gardens to ethnic food), and a state of the art mountain gondola/lift that everyone should take whether for hiking, views, a short walk -- its absolutely breathtaking. This town is what life should be like everywhere. I would note that this town did not feel "touristy" even though there are many visitors to this town, but the tourism is largely cycling/hiking/skiing visitors, so that feels a bit different.Guest review byKimUnited States - 8.0

Gunzburg is a lovely town. We LOVED Legoland & Peppa Pig Park, they are so clean and staff is fantastic. Good choice of restaurants. The town is lovely for a walk and for viewing the painted buildings. You can also get some good beer. Prices are higher due to the proximity of the castle. The town is an ideal place to stay for visiting the castle or for hiking. The roads are well maintained, as are the cycling and hiking trails. The hotel had an underground car parking facility so we felt our motorbike was safe and not left in front of the hotel. We had to have an evening meal from the supermarket Norma which was below the hotel. Which was very annoying as the pub we thought we were staying at turned out to be a Chinese restaurant that closes on Monday when we were there. We did not want Chinese food or take away piazza. We had travelled too far to get back on the bike to find another place to eat. We travelled down the A8 onto the A7, turned right onto the 10 then right again on the 2023 to get to this hotel or we would have had to pay 2 ULEZ fees to get there as both ULM and New Ulm have fees.Guest review byGillianUnited Kingdom
