    The hotel is close to the national park (a 5 minute stroll). We took a walk in the park, saw a variety of water birds. The room was modern, spacious, spotless. The view from the balcony is amazing. The nespresso machine was a plus. The bed and the pillows were very comfy. We were planning to travel a long distance the following day, therefore quiet and good rest was one of our priorities. And we had a super quality sleep! Parking is easy, there was plenty of space in the parking lot. The dinner was tasty, the portions are huge. The view while dining outside is breathtaking.

    First time to hotel Waldhaus Oelper and pleasantly surprised. Special touch and character of hotel reminding me the small cosy family run hotels in countryside. Room clean, spacious, comfortable. Parking on site easy to find. Members of staff pleasant and with smile on their faces. Ideal venue for weddings (and from the photos in the hallway) they do many of them with very positive feedback.

    All good - hotel close to the highway so it was easy do stop for a night and relax well. We were travelling as a family (2+2) and had a family room which was just enough for us - queen bed for us and 2 single beds on mezzanine for the kids. Everything was clean. We came in late which was not an issue as well - receptionist gave us entrance code after payment so we could do self check-in.

    Small cozy town that really seems beautiful. I find the old town and the castle one of sweet spots and if you rent a car, you can get to some really nice places around there. Town is clean and peaceful. It could be better lit at night.

    I really enjoyed the Volkswagen factory tour. It was very interesting to see how the cars are produced. It was 10 euro to do the one hour factory tour .Probably better to check for an English language tour when you book on line. There is an interesting motor museum on the grounds at the autostadt with cars from all different makes and decades from the first car to modern ones. There are plenty of places to eat on the Autostadt Vw area and are not over priced either . The only thing that was disappointing were the two gift shops.I was expecting some cool Vw merchandise but was sadly left disappointed. Vw could do a lot lot better of this . Overall Wolfsburg is a beautiful place and well worth a visit. It might be best to spend at least two day to take it all in and visit other interesting places here. Very safe to walk about and very clean.

    Small town with nice people. Parking control is excessive. Went shopping, I used the shopping center parking lot and got a ticket for not using a blue parking disk. NEVER had something like this happen in all my travels before, so that was a bad experience.

    Gifhorn is worth visiting in its own right, but being so...

    Gifhorn is worth visiting in its own right, but being so close to several other cities of beauty is a plus. There is a good Autobahn connection, but the slower side roads are also worth traveling. Braunschweig, Celle, Wolfenbuettel, Wolfsburg, Wernigerode, even Goslar are close enough for a day trip. Museums, castles, picturesque Altstaedte are just the beginning.

    If you want to dive into the german histroy about the Iron Curtain and understand more about cold war, the separation of the two Germanys, Helmstedt is a good loacation to visit the various sites within a 30km radius.

    Braunschweig gets overlooked, but the art gallery is the second largest in Europe after the Louvre. Would make a great stopover on the way to Berlin (direct motorway). Very reasonable and not overcrowded. Excursions to the VW works in Wolfsburg next door, or Wolfenbuettel (Lessinghaus, castle and library). The old inner German border crossing of Helmstedt Marienborn (monastery) would be another day trip, or the slightly further Harz mountains. Braunschweig was the capital city of a dukedom and therefore boasts a theatre and a swimming pool.

    I was told that the city had 100 000 inhabiants, to me it looked like 500 was a more correct number. Almost impossible to find any place to have an evening meal. In the hotel there was a nice restaurant, it was totally closed, and no information about this. A paper list on the door told me and about 20 other persons which room number they would get, mine was No. 19. In the mail box was a number of keys, and it worked, I found key No. 19 and got inside!

Good public transport and friendly people The Schloss was good for retail outlets and cafes The information office was difficult to find but once there it was found, it had all the information you wanted and the staff spoke good English if your German was not good. The cathedral and other churches were worth a visit Need more than a couple of days to really see and enjoy the city

    I got lost by my own fault but actually ended up at the VW...

    I got lost by my own fault but actually ended up at the VW factory that I wanted to see so my mistake turned out to be a positive adventure. The place I stayed had a very nice and clean neighborhood with easy walking terrain. At least 90% of the vehicles I saw on my 1 hour walk were VW's. I am sure it is because of the VW manufacturing plant there, haha. I stayed in Neindorf and there are no grocery stores there so you must drive, or take the buts one town up towards Wolfsburg.
