Beautiful city, however, I think a 1-night trip is enough if you just want to see the city. We flew in on Friday evening and out on Sunday night, but we feel we would have been happy leaving on Saturday night. Please remember that most shops and other places don't open on Sundays, so we were walking around trying to find things to do. I highly recommend climbing the cathedral tower if you are able. Duesseldorf is an amazingly beautiful city. If you like to party it is obviously good for that as well since the bar scene seems to go all night long during the week. I'm no longer into the bar scene I just know that when I had to leave at 3am to catch my flight they were all still going strong on a Tuesday night. Checked in on the Friday and visited the Signal Iduna Park for their game against Leverkusen,then visited the zoo on Saturday and spent Sunday walking around the centre and the national football museum. Bonn has not been bombed during WWII, therefore it has the largest well-conserved late 19th century urban area in Germany (Suedstadt). We were overwhelmed by the splendour of the cathedral, and delighted by the new Charlemagne centre. Had there been more time we would have explored the city's history as displayed in the centre. Landschaft park is brilliant.. free and very interesting...history of the blast furnace and you can climb all over it... Nice that they preserve such an historical site. A big shopping centre (Forum) with some really good places to eat. We are in Asia in the Forum... great value for money (19 eur for 2 meals) and another day we ate from the kebab shop opposite the Asia...
