My compliments won’t dry up! Situated directly on the magnificent sandy beach (we could see both sunrise and moonset) its rooms with balconies overlook the sea. It offered everything I wished for : 3 different sauna, gorgeous swimming pool with whirlpool, a rooftop Wintergarten overlooking the ocean where one can lounge at night, a bar with live music and dancing on Saturday night, a beautiful restaurant where a copious breakfast buffet is served (it has also a Sommergarten with outdoor swimming pool closed in winter of course ). The hotel is located 100 metres from the long pier (lively with its shops and restaurants) and is also directly in the village, a few steps to the a number of shops and restaurants. I was upgraded to a Superior comfort room with bottles of water and snack and lovely toiletries in the large and modern bathroom plus a basket with bathrobe and water for the sauna/pool. The room was extremely spacious and quiet with a huge bed separated by an elegant piece of furniture from a lounge area (with sofa, coffee table and armchair) giving directly onto a balcony (with table and chairs) that overlooked the beach. There is a fridge. The bed and bedding (pillows) were superb. The wifi was great. The staff friendly. What can I say more? A dream place to spend some days on an exceptionally beautiful beach. The hotel backs onto the pedestrian promenade for cycling and walking options to the various towns nearby but the large garden means it is private and peaceful. The beach is 2 mins walk. The swimming pool was wonderful, bike hire was reasonable, breakfast was amazing and included in the price. And the staff everywhere were incredibly nice and professional. Ahlbeck is a beautiful, small town with just the right number of facilities (shops, restaurants and hotels) that provide the visitor with everything they need whilst still retaining its character. Spotlessly clean, like most of Germany, it sets the standard for how we should respect nature. The property was not in Ahlbeck.
The property was not in Ahlbeck. It was quite a way away in Polish Usedom. It is right on the promenade across from the Radisson.Everything around there is very expensive. On the German side they charge €3.30 for a Kurkarte which is a tax to use the beach. If you don't have it with you you will be fined! The biting bugs are terrible. Either bugs or a cold wind covering you with sand.I got a "warning" for not displaying a Parking Disc. The warning asked for €20. I would avoid the beach in Germany.
