- From US$188.96 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 402 reviewsThe hosts were very friendly and helpful. Checked we had everything we needed. The house was clean and well equipped, ans in a beautiful setting. Our junior suite was directly opposite the amazing pool, so only about 10m. It had great (& quiet) aircon, needed as it was 39 degrees. The pool is like a beach theme so you can easily walk in, lay in to read and swim properly as well. It is an infinity pool with great views of the mountains. Our house had a terrace with dining table/chairs, relaxing chairs and a bed for sunbathing. We went as a three, my husband and 15 Yr old daughter so she slept on the sofa bed (which she said was very comfortable) Inside the rooms we're spacious and clean. There was enough to cook a little with 2 ring hob, microwave, toaster and coffee machine as well as a dishwasher. Manoli supplied water, milk and coffee plus delivered fresh bread every morning with butter, jam, olive oil and tomato paste for breakfast which was wonderful. All replenished if requested. The gardens and pool were cleaned and watered every day and were beautiful and well tended. There is a campsite next door with a lovely restaurant serving local food and pizza, which can be to take away too. Great place, and will definitely come back. Loved itGuest review byNickyUnited Kingdom
- From US$104.98 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 278 reviewsVery cosy apartment - more like a house, lovely sitting room with fireplace and upstairs bedrooms. The accomodation is in a secluded location but well located as it is very close to a good major road to explore the area (don't be discouraged, road noise is negligible if at all present) and close to a friendly village, and can also be combined as a base for visiting the nearby Sao Mamede park area in Portugal (the border is just a few minutes away). The garden and swimming pool area are great (unfortunately we visited out of season so still too chilly to swim), you wake up listening to all the birds. You can also have a walk in the wooded area which is part of the property, or start a hike directly from your doorstep. Very friendly host, went out of her way to make sure we had a great stay. Recommended base for the area, lots of beautiful nature spots and prehistoric sites in the area and Caceres (should you wish to visit a city) just an hour away.Guest review byAdrianNetherlands
- From US$147.72 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,636 reviewsIt was the most beautiful location with outstanding and wonderful service. I ate in the square so cannot comment on the food but the bar service was very good and the rooms outstanding. I cannot thank the reception staff enough for their exemplary service and the great sadness was not meeting Raquel with whom I had communicated by email and who was an Angel with the care she took to make my reservation and stay world class. Also the perfect stop half way down through Spain on anyone’s travels to the south. Well worth the effort of going off piste and ignore the average surrounds of Plasencia the Parador and all that surrounds it is in the old quarter and is stunning.Guest review byRobinSouth Africa
- From US$69.98 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 239 reviewsEverything! Absolutely stunning site, immaculate and warm bungalows which were modern and fully equipped. A quiet, peacefull site. We even extended our stay, which the staff made very easy and welcoming. The staff, especially Blanca and Maria, were so helpful with advising areas to visit and knowledge of surrounding areas. Even though we visited in the quietest part of the year, there was still so many activities to keep the kids entertained. WiFi was great and TV perfect. Food from the restaurant could be delivered straight to our door and was fresh and tasty. We will be back!Guest review byAlexaSpain
- From US$107.31 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 272 reviewsAbsolutely wonderful cute little houses. Very clean with all facilities. The jacuzzi after a long drive hit the spot! Beautiful views and great facilities We didn't stay the right time of the year for the pool so will need to go back! It was completely silent, the bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in and I going to look for the same bedding which was super cosy. Very friendly staff and the breakfast was lovely. The restaurant closed dinner before we arrived again next time!Guest review byFionaUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.1Good - What previous guests thought, 207 reviewsThe location of the hotel is great - walking distance into the wonderful town of Trujillo and with easy access to main roads. The staff are friendly and helpful although very little English spoken. We had two evening meals there which were fine although showing the usual Spanish absence of vegetables (chips with everything). The room was adequate although the bathroom could do with some work.Guest review byLeighUnited Kingdom

Caceres is a lovely old mediaeval city, walled and interesting, but not too touristy. We will certainly go back, because there's more to see (even though it's a compact old town, there's a lot there). The bars and restaurants aren't a rip-off: we had a very good menu del dia for 17 euros - slightly more than one would pay in a village restaurant or a via de servicio, but we were on the Plaza Mayor, just below the city walls, and the food was excellent and very generous. The rest of the city has plenty of nice bars and restaurants as well.Guest review byJamesUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Plasencia is a small town, the centre has narrow hilly streets, parking in the centre is difficult but there is plenty of free parking near to the park with an escalator to take you up the steep hill to the centre. There are several supermarkets, a Carrafeur on the North side and several smaller supermarkets on the south side. There is a river running along the East side. There are many restaurants available, fast food near to the Carrafeur and more upmarket ones in the centre. Plasencia is at the foot of the Jerte valley, where most of the cherries in Spain are grown, you can drive to the top of the valley, which takes around an hour and is very scenic.Guest review byPhilipUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Lovely city, well recommended.
Lovely city, well recommended. Good food generally and we found one superb restaurant. People tend to eat later than many areas so be aware of this. Plenty to do for a 2 night stay. Very interesting place.Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Hotel lovely but surrounding cafe restaurants were a little shoddy, a sweep of the streets now and then could go a long way, not alot of variation. Nice shops selling local produce. Recommend Dalboroque lovely little bar selling craft beers and really nice wines get some tapa there too. Run by a lovely young lady named Jessica, well worth a visit and only 2 or 3 minutes from the parador on Calle Gregorio Lopez 3Guest review byMarionUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Hervás is a lively and charming little historic town, located in an area of stunning natural beauty, and conveniently located for travellers who are heading along, or across, the Ruta de la Plata highway in western Spain, not too far from the border with Portugal, at any time of the year. The town itself is very pedestrian friendly, full of culture with great restaurants, bars, shops and a great collection of sculpture and paintings in the Museo Perez Comendador-Leroux. The locals are really welcoming, the food and wine are fantastic, and it's the kind of place that gets under your skin and keeps you coming back again!Guest review byJamesSpain - 6.0

Ours was only an over night stop en route to Cadiz . It was fine for the night- and we were travelling with 3 dogs in very inclement weather. The outside paved area was fenced, ideal to let the dogs out without fear they may run off ‘exploring’. We are confident we left the accommodation in excellant order as should anyone, with pets or not.Guest review byJaneFrance - 10.0

Caceres is well worth a trip.Theres lots to see and much atmosphere to soak up.Nice friendly city/town with many nearby places worth a visit such as Truillo and Guadalupe......Actually the historic architecture in both Caceres and Truillo is something to write home about!..If your into nature there are literally scores of square Kms of wild flowers in the surrounding countryside thanks to light touch farming practises and this brings many insects which in turn bring many birds and other creatures...Definitely worth a trip is the national park in Monfrague so youll need to hire a car to get the best of that type of thing.Guest review bymichaelIreland - 8.0
Interesting old town and surprisingly few tourists.
Interesting old town and surprisingly few tourists. We booked in advance a guided visit (in English) through the tourist office wich is to recommend. We tried the restaurants InMercado and Casa Juan and both had good food to fair prices. Casa Juan had an unusual table decor and served a typical local dinner including the sheep milk cheese Tarta de Casar.Guest review byNordjyllandDenmark - 10.0

Trujillo is a fascinating historical city with plenty to see. Take time to wander the streets and visit the museums. The Tourist Office, whilst helpful, could not offer guided tours in English and our 2 hour tour in Spanish was challenging even if you have a good level of Spanish. But it did introduce us to back streets which I didn't see the last time I was in Trujillo. It is also only just over an hour by car to Guadalupe, Caseres, Placensia and the National Park. Stunning scenery. We lucked out the first night finding the amazing Alberca Asador restaurant near to our hotel. There are lots of restaurants in the main plaza for all tastes with a more holiday vibe.Guest review byJosephineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Guadalupe is a good stop on the way south to Cordoba and Andalucia. Off the beaten track enough to be free of too much traffic although the Black Virgin and the Cathedral attract a lot of visitors. Around the square in front of the Cathedral are many bars, restaurants and little shops. A great place for a coffee and doing some sketching. If staying for a few days you can visit Monfrague and walk in the Sierra de Guadalupe. This is the original of all the Guadalupes around the world.Guest review byDuncanUnited Kingdom
