The area of the city is more peaceful then old town, but old town is accessible by nice walk at seaside or by bus. The staff of the hotel is helpful and friendly. During my 2 weeks stay I was living in three rooms: single (3rd flor), double (3rd flor) and double superior (7th flor). The last of them was most expensive but certainly worth the money, with large terrace, beautiful view on the sea and the city. Me and my wife were enjoying stay there. The double room was OK, but nothing particular. Clean and correct. The single room at 3rd flor was suffering problems with ventilation and bad smell was coming from the toilet. Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a very pleasant little town on the South-west coast of France. Its beach is nicely sheltered from the wild Bay of Biscay, making it safe and attractive. We stayed in a central hotel with easy access to some lovely bars and restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. It's an easy drive into the countryside; we climbed a mountain called Larrun, part of the Pyrenees, then easily back to St Jean de Luz for a swim and out for dinner! Zarautz is an impossibly quaint, clean, and beautiful town with one of the best surfing beaches in Spain, and possibly Europe. It is a town that is so picturesque it could be in its own movie. The shops are beautiful and tasteful. The restaurants serve some of the best food I've ever tasted. And the beach is huge and absolutely stunning. Great location, short trip to Ferry, Very good wifi in room, Max Centre very close for fast food, secure parking for my motorcycle from 11pm to 8am, I still recommend to use locks on your motorcycle like every other hotel. Lovely, long beach. Quieter than St Jean de Luz, but still with a good choice of small restaurants, often specialising in fish/seafood. Good public transport links, not expensive, to be able to visit other nearby villages and towns of the Basque Country Lovely walk up over the headland, or instead -a little stroll along the promenade. Visited Hondaribbia in Spain by a very short boat trip that leaves from Hendaye port. Beautiful little village-nice pintxos in the restaurants ! And good view from up by the castle.
