Ribes de Freser is a charming small town in the Spanish Pyrenees. It offers a variety of bars and restaurants, a supermarket, bakeries, and some shops with local specialties. There is a beautiful little church and a pittoresk place with bars directly on the banks of river Ribes. The scenery is characterized by the pre-summits of the Pyrenees, forest and lawns. The village is connected by road to the coast (Ripoll - 20 km, Figueres - 100 km, Barcelona - 120 km) and to Andorra (100 km) but can also be reached by train (from Barcelona). There is a mountain train going up the Nuria valley all the way to the Nuria Eremitage. It is about five kilometers from the interesting Camprodon (where you will find all necessary services as well as a challenging golf course). My only negative is the emergency light in the room, way too bright for something that's gonna be on the entire night, makes it hard to sleep. Ripoll was the most beautiful place. Our accommodation at “Can Vilardi” was most horrible. The operators are scammers trying blame renters for breaking the devices in the home that never worked before we arrived. They reported us to the police for breaking the driveway entry gate. On route to this accommodation, one of our party was in a crash, badly hurt, hospitalized and his motorcycle un ridable. We contacted booking.com to cancel this booking, they said they would contact the host. We also sent a message to the host and photo's of the damaged bike. We got nothing back other than an acknowledgment from booking.com of our request to cancel. The next day, booking.com message saying, the host hasn't replied. We messaged the host again, nothing. I checked on booking.com, all messages and the booking, have disappeared. 5 days later we are charged the whole fee and recorded as a NO show. We raised this with booking.com, who said they would contact the host. A week later, we had heard nothing. I raised then this again with booking.com, a week later, still nothing.
