A beautiful city, with medieval historic center, museums and great restaurants, beautiful views of the river and apartments reflected on the water, the stone bridge and others, nice and friendly staff at the Tourism Office. Would return to Girona more than Barcelona. Easy transportation to Palafrugell and the hop on hop off bus to Tamariu, Calella and Llafranch. We stayed in Calella just during the day but loved it. Could not visit the Cathedral in Girona due to so many steps and we are in our 70's.......Guest review byCAULINEAUUnited States - 6.0

Fabulous place to spend a few days.
Fabulous place to spend a few days. The old town has many historic attractions, great restaurants/cafes and very easily walkable. Parking can be an issue so go early to get a park at the free central areas, or park outside the city and take public transport. If you do have a car, go exploring the amazing little villages and towns within a 50km radius. It is very hilly with a lot of steep steps to climb. The best part of Girona is the old Town. Plenty of places to eat and drink. This is a great place to stop and break up a journey, Just off the motorway, easy to find. It is on the edge of big commercial centre, lots of shops and a selection of places to eat within walking distance. It was clean and welcoming and the room was spacious.
