Both the hotel and the restaurant staff were kind and helpful. Thank you for your excellent service and hospitality. The town is very beautiful with many white and tidy houses, narrow streets and cheerful people. We really enjoyed our visit.

United KingdomWe booked our stay at Pórtico del Azahín very late in the day, and out of season, yet the hosts kindly let us stay and gave us the hostal to ourselves. It feels like a newly opened place – the entire interior and furniture are pristine, and the showers are spotless. The communal kitchen is fully equipped, and we were able to securely store our bicycles in the central open courtyard, which also has clotheslines. Everything you could need for a pilgrimage is here! Excellent all round – we would happily return.

We had a great stay in beautiful surroundings. The accommodation is a good starting point for hiking, cycling, and more. The owners helped us with hiking trails and renting bikes. A beautiful place with historic charm.
Good to know: there is no grocery store or restaurant nearby unless you have a car.

A charming place with a real rustic vibe. Was special to have an authentic farmhouse experience. Beautiful grounds and so peaceful. The staff were really friendly and so helpful with anything we wanted or needed. And the dogs were so sweet!

A very interesting building. We enjoyed our stay here, and had a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant on one of our evenings there. The hotel is a short distance out of town, only a few minutes' walk.

A lovely village, clean with a good selection of shops( we did all out gift shopping here). Great community spirit - the place came alive in the weekend nights with hundreds gathering to chill and eat together. Amazing to see the numbers of elderly and disabled out and about daily with carers or extended family. The town’s statue is of a man with a disability, erected to celebrate the community’s commitment to “ RESPECT, ACCEPTANCE, INCLUSION, NORMALITY”. …and the evidence is that these are lived values here. Beautiful.

A lovely village in the Sierra Norte.
A lovely village in the Sierra Norte.
Friendly people and very much a living working village.
Known for exceptional Jamon it is well served by bars and restaurants - the ones we used were very good.
Supermarkets and shops selling local produce along with a weekly market are in place.
Walks into the stunning countryside are plentiful and of varying levels.
Accessible from Seville by car within an hour - I believe a bus service is also in place.
A village on the Camino de Santiago - Via de la plata.

A quiet town, with at least 3 great restaurants : Agustina, Posada del Moro, and Meson La Bolera.
Excellent locally produced food : cherry liqueur, organic olive oil, cheese, and of course the acorn-fed black pigs.
Some good walks from town out into the local countryside.
A number of interesting ancient buildings, but none open for visiting during our stay.
Access from Sevilla by bus (1hour 40 @ €7)

Cazalla de la Sierra is a beautiful town set on a hilltop.
Cazalla de la Sierra is a beautiful town set on a hilltop. The Sierra Norte is a great area to explore walking. You must also cycle the Via Verde - you can hire bikes from a cycle shop at Constantina train station for just 10 euros per day. The mines are a must see too!
