- From US$379.08 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 206 reviewsWhen I first booked this stay, I had a look at some of the reviews and almost changed my mind. I am so glad that I didn’t! It seems that all of the previous issues have been fixed. There is a reception on sight that offers a lovely breakfast and small selection for dinner. We cooked in our igloo the first night. The kitchen area is small but has everything you need to make a dinner on the hob (no oven unfortunately). The privacy was not an issue as there are curtains and blinds available however we opted to sleep without them to get a full view of the night sky and even managed to sleep under the northern lights. If you get lucky, the lake offers an incredible view of the lights- the reflection makes it very magical. We stayed in the lakeside igloo which had an unrestricted view and meant that we didn’t have to leave our igloo to notice the northern lights to begin with. The other igloos are very close to the lakeside ones though and the best views are outside anyway. The staff were friendly and helpful. They helped us to book a husky experience which was €85 each. It sounds expensive but I couldn’t recommend it enough. You get a whole hour husky ride. We went on carts which we controlled ourselves but were told that they use sledges when it snows. I would recommend hiring a car to get to the igloo but it’s also helpful to have in Lapland in general. Most places are a drive away. The car also gave us the freedom to travel in search of the northern lights late at night. We were recommended to go to Honkivaaran, which is a secluded spot in the forest with an outside toilet, fire pits and viewing point. It’s a good spot for viewing the lights away from any light pollution. Having the car meant that we didn’t have to pay for any of the northern lights chasing trips and had freedom to go on our own. I don’t often write reviews but I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough!Guest review byLaurenQatar
- From US$219.28 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,649 reviewsThe fact that breakfast is designed by renowned master chef Sara LaFontain says it all. Variety of tastes and gourmet display in a pleasant environment in the Arctic restaurant. I stayed in a room with sauna. The room interior design is really unique and not to mention the quality coffee provided in the room. Staff was always available for additional info and great conversation. Would definitely come back.Guest review bySashkoNorth Macedonia

The staff was exceptional. Everyone was friendly and cooperative. Although the best time to visit this place is after 15th December when the ice hotel and bar are functional we still enjoyed in Autumn.Guest review byTh3GuruFinland

Summer trip to Rovaniemi: Lapland was in a heat wave which held us back a bit as it was rather humid. We enjoyed Arktikum very much, went swimming in the river, walked in the Arctic Gardens and explored the town centre. We planned some hiking but it was hotter than we expected. At end of July, sunset around midnight for only a short time, which is cool.Guest review byLynleyNew Zealand - 8.0

I do ski (downhill) but would not ski in Jan/early Feb in Levi because of the poor light. However it is a great village to visit and not ski if you like winter walking or other snow based activities. The restaurants are very good and characterful if you choose wisely.Guest review byStephenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Great resort place, west village right next to husky farm and horse farm. Decent planetarium also, but they need to learn a bit about running these shows :). Do install the Aurora app if you are there for this. The Aurora alarm in rooms don't work, or atleast didn't work for me.Guest review byUjjwalIndia - 10.0

Inari is a little place, surrounded by amazing forests and lakes. It is certainly a must if you want to get to know Saami culture better. It also perfectly fits for those, who like nature and long walks. Although it is small, you can find pretty many activities there - from taking a boat trip in Inari lake in the summer period, to visiting Side museum and doing northern light hunting in winter. PaPaNa pub is also a must to visit.Guest review byIrinaNorway - 10.0
Kilpisjärvi in winter is a magical experience.
Kilpisjärvi in winter is a magical experience. The village is located in the far north of Finland, in the heart of Lapland. It is a popular destination for winter activities such as skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing. The area is also known for its stunning scenery, with snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and the majestic Saana fell. One of the highlights of a winter trip to Kilpisjärvi is the opportunity to see the Northern Lights. The village is located in an area with minimal light pollution, making it an ideal place to view this natural phenomenon. The Northern Lights can be seen on clear nights throughout the winter, but the best time to see them is during the darkest months of December and January. Kilpisjärvi is also a great place to experience the Sami culture. The Sami are the indigenous people of Lapland, and they have a rich history and culture. There are several Sami villages in the area, and visitors can learn about the Sami way of life by visiting a reindeer farm or a traditional Sami market. Overall, Kilpisjärvi is a wonderful place to visit in winter. It is a great destination for those who want to experience the beauty of Lapland and enjoy a variety of winter activities.Guest review bySujoy GoswamiNetherlands - 8.0
Small town by the sea.
Small town by the sea. The icebreaker, SAMPO, is the attraction of the town. If you are not interested in sailing in the iced sea, walking on the iced sea and floating in the sea, you needn't come here. I bought some pretty clothes in a small shop in Kemi. How happy!Guest review byMs.China - 10.0

So great to watch the northern lights without any hassle.
So great to watch the northern lights without any hassle. Just above you while you are on bed or few steps from your cabin. Just install the northernlight alert app and go enjoy your stay within the premises , it will sent alerts for the area you’re in and that’s what we did. Realy great experience and so magnificent to see the dancing colorful northern lights . Breathtaking . The location is perfect away from the city however the city center is not too far only around 5-6 kilometers.Guest review byMohammadKuwait - 10.0
Ivalo itself was cute.
Ivalo itself was cute. Not too touristy, much quieter than places close by and everyone so friendly with a well stocked supermarket. Not too many places to eat but it depends what you’re looking for. As a young family, it was perfect for us!Guest review byJenniferHong Kong - 10.0
The ski resort was very nice.
The ski resort was very nice. Also, Amethyst mine was great to visit. I recommend to everyone! My norther lights hunting was not successful because of the weather, but I will try again. If I had more time, I would love to cross country skiing and visit the national park nearby. I wish I could try to eat more local food from Lapland. Oh well, next time :)Guest review byShirinRUnited States
