FAQs about hotels in Normandy
Remembering the Past, Relishing the Present
Bordered by the English Channel, Normandy is a sleepy French region that sees many visitors arrive via its major seaports – Cherbourg, Dieppe, Le Havre and Ouistreham.
Between these last 2 is Deauville, home to some of the most exclusive Normandy hotels by the beach. Its pristine sands and international film festival have secured its prestige for the glitterati. The surrounding region of Calvados is famous for its cider and brandy, and Normandy also home to camembert cheese.
Calvados was also the site of the Allied landings and Booking.com has a great range of B&Bs and hotels near D-Day beaches. Caen, the Normandy capital, is a lovely city that houses the Memorial for Peace, a museum detailing the effects of conflict, and World War II in particular. North of here in Bénouville is Pegasus Bridge, while the D-Day beaches span from Ouistreham to Arromanches, home to another of Normandy’s WWII museums.
Inland is the Bayeux tapestry, a huge, hand-stitched depiction of the Norman conquest of England. Off the region’s western shores are the Channel Islands, while at its south-west corner are Avranches and nearby Mont Saint-Michel, accessed via a causeway.
Other Normandy attractions include Rouen, a historic city with colourful, half-timbered houses and an archaeology museum housing finds from the Roman amphitheatre down the Seine River in Lillebonne.

- From US$120.83 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,657 reviewsWe loved this hotel. The staff were very friendly and always on hand if you needed anything. The pool area was perfect. Children are only allowed in at certain times so great if you were without children. But if you do have children like us, they loved the pool! The room was spacious with a separate twin room within the room perfect for our small family. We will be back the next time we’re in Honfleur.Guest review byBrandonUnited Kingdom

Good centre for touring WWII sites. Very interesting half day visiting US beaches and cemetery arranged through the Memorial Caen, also easy to get to Sword and the Commando Museum using public transport. Castle good to walk round. Honfleur is a gorgeous mediaeval fishing town that we have visited well over a dozen times. We never get tired of going back. There is always something to see and do. Amazing art galleries to look at, the small tourist train that takes you to all the main sites in Honfleur and it's environs. The replica William the Conquerors longship that is being built - a trip on the Seine to the Pont-d- Normandie. La Lieutenance, the harbour and the numerous cafes and restaurants, just walking through the old town/St Catherine Quarter (downhill always leads back to the old harbour - so you can't get lost!)Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 6.0

I was in Deauville for the Bridge Festival, so chose the location for that reason. However, I would say that some of the restaurants in Deauville are not great value or quality and prefer to eat in Trouville where there is better choice and value in my opinion. It is all down to personal taste, obviously many wealthy Parisians and foreign visitors like to be in Deauville, for the beach and top hotels. Relative to Trouville it is quite smart, but Trouville is more lively and overall more interesting. Next time, I will stay in Trouville although it is more of a walk to the casino.Guest review byChrisUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A must-see on the northern Normandy/ Brittany border. Explore the twisty, narrow, steep streets. Step back in time with a visit to the abbey and enjoy delicious seafood- moules frites- overlooking the bay. Highly recommendGuest review byKatherineUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The cathedral is so beautiful as is the whole town.
The cathedral is so beautiful as is the whole town. It truly is postcard perfect. We loved the Battle of Normandy museum and learned so much about the WWII history of the town. The military cemetery and memorial to journalists are both well worth visiting. And we also did a half day D Day tour which was very good. And it was only two hours by train from Mont St Michel which is the most incredible place.Guest review byLesleyAustralia - 6.0
Stay in good hotel, explore other towns around.
Stay in good hotel, explore other towns around. Beside the great rock this town failed in management. The casino is old and dirty, kebab and other american food brakes the charm. Typical case of.... The good old times. Local politics , bring back the charm..... and please clean the fuck up! STay one or two days in hotel there as great location to explore around!Guest review byLaurentBelgium - 10.0
Have been to Dieppe many times previously and love it.
Have been to Dieppe many times previously and love it. Lovely views, next to the harbour and sea, great choice of restaurants, although we are addicted to Le Tout Va Bien, which suits us perfectly. The only downside at the moment is that the main bridge for easy access to the sea front and harbour is closed. I gather work is 10 months behind schedule, and the tortuous diversion for motorists is very poorly signposted..:(Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Cherbourg is dominated by a huge harbour where your ferry comes in. The town itself is long from east to west, spreading out from the harbour. From north to south it is much smaller. The harbour area and the promenades are worth walking around and the central area at the Place Charles de Gaulle is the best area to relax in. It's also the ideal town from which to see other nearby attractions, such as a D-Day beach, the Bayeux Tapestry and Mont-St-Michel, all of which I visited. One word of warning - the French railway service isn't the best. The trains are subjected to many cancellations and delays and the ticket machines in the stations frequently refuse to give you a ticket! Railway problems aside, the town of Cherbourg and other parts of Normandy are worth a holiday and I'm so glad I went.Guest review byCLIVEUnited Kingdom
