FAQs about hotels in Cornwall
The Stuff of Legends
Inhabited since prehistory, Cornwall is characterised by a series by rocky bays, fishing villages and spectacular coastline. Right at England’s western tip is Land’s End where sheer cliffs descend into the Atlantic Ocean. Along the coast is popular St Ives, home to many Cornwall hotels by the sea on Booking.com.
Another fantastic beach resort is Penzance, while across the bay is St Michael’s Mount (not to be confused with similar Mont St-Michel in Normandy). Also boasting a wonderful beach is Newquay, though it is best known for its excellent surfing conditions.
Further north is Tintagel, the stuff of legends due to its association with King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The remains of Tintagel Castle are perched dramatically on a rocky promontory, while inland on Bodmin Moor granite tors and stone monoliths only add to Cornwall’s feeling of mystery.
Heading north towards Bude the Cornwall beaches become longer, while on the southern coast Looe is a picturesque town curving around an inlet. To the east near St Austell is the Eden Project, huge domes housing thousands of plants from all over the world.
The county town of Cornwall is Truro, home to an impressive cathedral overlooking the River Fal which flows down to Falmouth Bay, a great spot to try some local Cornish ice cream.

- From US$195.83 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 2,807 reviewsWe had an amazing stay at Camelot Castle Hotel! We got an upgrade to a room with sea view, which made it even better. The location of the hotel is perfectly situated near the cliffs, which grants an incredible view, also the coastal path is right next to the hotel. We enjoyed it during breakfast and our afternoon tea at the bar. The drawing room, bar and dining room are kept in a beautiful antique style, we loved it. The room was small but beautiful and cosy, ghe bathroom was totally new and equipped with a big bathtub, which was great. Breakfast and cakes were good too.Guest review byMAustria

The changes are beautiful the health club was exceptional. The room was beautiful but my wife likes a firm bed woke with back pain but the jacuzzi sorted that outfit her. The breakfast was very tasty. Shame not a buffet service but eh ho best I suppose stop us over eating. lol. The singer Toby was perfect such a lovely touch. We’re looking into health club membership now. Many thanks well done the St Micheals team.Guest review byNeilCanada
- From US$147.21 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 2,917 reviewsThe hotel is rich in history and we enjoyed the stay and experience immensely. The breakfast was great and one of the best we had on our trip, the dinner we had was super as well. The rooms are comfortable and nice. The hotel is in a remote location so there are no other eating out options, but we were ok with that as we had a short stay. would definitely recommend the hotel for its history charm and good food. would give this property two thumbs up.Guest review byRukshadIndia

Although it was not very big, it had everything you need - even free gin for tasting and bottles of water. The view was towards the sea. Walking distance to the village center was about 10 min. View from the breakfast room was fantastic. Breakfast was soo good and the menu very diverse. Loved it!Guest review byGabrieleSwitzerland

We visited in September and were surprised how busy the town was. Restaurants needed booking and the beach car parks were quite full. Can't imagine what it's like in the summer when kids are out of school and families holidaying. We came for the surfing and used the surf school at Fistral Beach. It was excellent and there are places for the spectators to have food/drink while waiting for the surfers or just sit and watch if you don't want to be right on the sand.Guest review byDavidUnited States - 8.0

Pleasant town, some interesting small galleries; loved the train trip to and from St Erth. Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden excellent; Tate Modern impressive building and location, collection disappointing. Geevor Tin Mine Museum very good. Bad weather prevented wander through what appeared an interesting cemetery. Ate at apartment as too difficult to get down into town at night. Surprised that some bus routes ceased at end of August. Live near the beach at Sydney but still pleased to see Porthminster after cobblestone beaches elsewhere in England. Very helpful tourist information centre.Guest review byJoyAustralia - 10.0

The sea water lido on the shore, with a geothermal section was a big hit with us. We enjoyed walking along the promendate and watching the variable sea, sometimes crashing against the formidable sea wall. Our main attraction for choosing Penzance was the ferry to St Marys, Isles of Scilly, which is doable as a day trip. The ferry port is at the end of the promendate, easily accessible. There are good bus services to various destinations in the area, such as Mousehole and St Ives.Guest review byEleanorUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The bus service is good - so well worth using it as parking in Cornwall tourist spots is difficult. The ferry rides to surrounding areas are well worth taking. It's a student town and so quite lively but everyone we met was extremely polite and friendly. Town kept very clean by CCC.Guest review byAlisonUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Didn’t visit St Austell but hotel is close to Lost Gardens of Heligan, Looe, Polperro and about 45 minutes from Trebah Gardens in Falmouth. All are well worth a visit. Hotel is also a very short walk from Britannia Inn where we had a lovely meal.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0

Apart from the cathedral there was not much else . We had based ourselves in Truro to visit Tresillik National Trust which in spite of being in great location was rather dissappointing having visited Lanhydrock earlier in the day which was superb. The house in Tressilick was very limited and appeared to be mainly used in lieu of the more usual excellent NT restaurant.Guest review byRogerUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We love Padstow and have visited several times over the years. Bear in mind that it is actually very small and can get intolerably over-crowded in high season. We went in late September this year and it was still very busy. It's extremely pretty but not cheap to eat or shop thereGuest review byJaneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Looe Has so many interesting little streets with historic buildings. Quaint little shops and places to eat or stop of for coffee to plan your next adventure, maybe pop into one of the pubs or inns around the town. Lovely sandy beaches, (it would be nice if they were Dog friendly like the rest of the Town though). so many lovely walks with beautiful views.Guest review byKAZUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The Bude canal walk with our dog was great, and the varied shops in Bude were excellent as were the eating places in and around Bude. Widemouth is worth a visit - not far away - we had an excellent meal at the Bay View Inn and saw the sunset from thereGuest review byTerryUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Tintagel is a magical place to visit.
Tintagel is a magical place to visit. Lots of little shops and places to eat. We enjoyed having a coffee at the Camelot Castle Hotel with beautiful views of the sea and the moors. Also King Arthur’s Castle can be seen and people walking over the bridge to it. We would like to have walked over the bridge but we were advised that the walk is long and steep and not suitable for unsteady walkers.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom
