FAQs about hotels in Cotswolds
The Quaint Heart of England
One of England’s most quaint areas, the Cotswolds are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with rolling hills interspersed by picturesque villages with limestone buildings.
From Cirencester to Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold to Stroud, the laidback lifestyle makes this area a great choice for an escape to the country. Booking.com has some fabulous accommodation and, of our range of Cotswolds hotels, luxury and budget alternatives are covered in equal measure.
The largest place is Cheltenham, a wonderful Regency spa town. Neighbouring Gloucester has some well-preserved medieval buildings and an impressive cathedral. Some of the most photographed medieval Cotswolds sights are the Arlington Row almshouses in Bibury. To the east beautiful Burford has a high street going up a hill, Burford Priory country house and the large Cotswolds Wildlife Park just south.
More feathered friends are found in Birdland Park at Bourton-on-the-Water, a lovely village with low bridges spanning its river. Forming a triangle with it are Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Norton, whose former mill and almshouses are worth a look. Broadway to the north-west has a main street in the shade of hills, one of which has a tower from where it’s said you can see 13 English counties!
Wherever you decide to stay, check Booking.com for great Cotswold hotel deals.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 313 reviewsYoung couple visiting Cotswolds for the first time . Absolutely outstanding hotel grounds! We could not believe the size of the place. We were delighted with the service of the staff they all worked hard , were attentive and the place was beautifully decorated and clean . Room was clean , spacious and cosy . Main house we really enjoyed exploring particularly the reception and billiard room! The spa was excellent with immaculate changing rooms . We went at a quiet time so had full use of the jacuzzis. Just what you need on a cold dry night. Dressing gowns in the rooms which were perfect if you took a chilly walk there. The food was delicious and plenty of options. We opted to have 3 courses at the travelling duke for 2 nights for only £25pp including steak ! We hope we can come back for a meal at the Brassiere as this was booked up every night. The value for the location, room, food, spa and hotel entertainment services was excellent. Didn’t use the golf course but it was appealing. Lots of activities to do too when you are there. The location was perfect and only a short drive to Chipping Norton and into other towns. Surprised it didn’t attract a younger crowd but we can’t wait to come back!Guest review byemmaUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 757 reviewsWe chose this hotel because it was centrally located for our excursions in Wiltshire and Cotswolds and we wanted to explore the Lake District in the evenings. Both check-in and check-out were very smooth with friendly and helpful reception staff. Very good cleanliness and well-maintained suite. Our middle floor room was peaceful and quiet. The number of kitchen utensils was sufficient for two people. Kitchen equipment was in working order and clean. The bed was comfortable. The heating-cooling system works very well. You open the windows for the oxygen of the forest to fill the room.Guest review byDoraTurkey
- From US$624.08 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 461 reviewsStunning hotel - the design of the rooms and the main areas is exquisite, everything is thought through. The restaurant and cocktail bar are great, breakfast was very good as well. The spa is lovely and the working hours are quite long but try to book the treatments in advance as it gets busy. You can also walk around beautiful lake, river and the forest located at the hotel grounds. In short, it's a gorgeous hotel - you won't be disappointed.Guest review byNadyaMontenegro

Cirencester has a wealth of historic buildings and quirky narrow streets. A market and lots of independent shops and places to eat. The people were the friendliest we have met on our many visits to English towns. Great for a short stay.Guest review byAlisonUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Very picturesque, with plenty to see and do.
Very picturesque, with plenty to see and do. Would recommend Smiths Burgers and the Dragonfly Maze. Easy to walk round and near to other places, such as Stow-on-the-Wold if you wanted to go further afield. Would have liked to have seen the Model Village but you couldn't take dogs in. Got a bit too busy for us in the afternoons but we still had a good time.Guest review bySue J WilliamsUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Nice little town with great pubs and close by to local attractions. We stayed here so that we could visit the farmers dog and we were only 25 minutes away. We also visited a few of the other little towns and villages. Great location. We ate at Bitter & twisted one evening in chipping Norton. Staff were friendly and the food was lovely. Great value for money also. We would definitely return.Guest review byKatie - 10.0

The town has a little bit of everything from a bustling town centre, small museum, great bookstores , a great choice and variety of cafes and pubs. The nearby country walks across beautiful Cotswold countryside also provides you with exercise and fresh air. Clarkson’s pub-The Farmer’s Dog-is within busing or walking distance. There are many other pubs worth visiting nearby as well-many providing delicious and nutritious meals. We really enjoyed our visit and would come again.Guest review byJayneCanada - 10.0
Stroud is a town with plenty of character.
Stroud is a town with plenty of character. There are many independent shops and alternative lifestyles are welcome. There are many coffee shops and restaurants. We especially enjoyed The Curio restaurant, King St, Woodruffs coffee shop and Rajat Indian restaurant. We walked along the canal to Stroud Brewery which has a good bar and restaurant. That was an easy walk. We walked up Swifts Hill, Slad Valley and had a drink in the Woolpack, not so easy but very enjoyable. This is a must for fans of Laurie Lee's books.Guest review byTulloch - 10.0

Magnificent High Street with galleries, museum and a wide variety of independent shops. Probably the prettiest North Cotswold village, or at least up there with Bourton-on-the-Water and Lower Slaughter. Nearly Broadway Tower has an excellent walk and panoramic views.Guest review byChrisUnited Kingdom
