The hotel is in a small village in the Cotswolds surrounded by fields of green. The room and bed were comfortable. The breakfast is really good and we ate in the restaurant at night which was also great. Lovely fireplace and soft music, very cosy. The staff are friendly and the whole place clean and with lovely furnishings. I highly recommend a stay in this charming hotel.

Loved our room with its quaint decor, space, overhead beams, view over the garden from the dormer windows, and luxurious-feeling bed. The gardens are spectacular with many places to sit and enjoy their beauty. I would recommend a summer visit just to make the most of the gardens. Our room was in a separate building from the public rooms, but while that may be an inconvenience in the rain, for us the annex was a plus because we looked out on the gardens. The restaurant was elegant with quality food. Reception was welcoming and helpful. The hotel is in the middle of the main street, which is beautiful. Plenty to explore on foot. It was a great base for ranging out into the Cotswolds. I would highly recommend a stay here. The hotel is absolutely charming.

We absolutely loved our stay. The manor is so authentic and comfortable at the same time. It's both a holiday and an experience, the historic building has a magic to it. The views from the hill immersed in nature with deers running in the distance, the common rooms have books you actually want to read, everything was done so tastefully. The Restaurant is exceptional. I've rarely had such amazing food in the UK! The staff working at the hotel was very attentive. Interesting Cotswolds towns are a short drive away. I can't recommend it enough!!

Of course, I loved the history of the building. I would have been disappointed if it wasn't as original as possible. I liked the creaking floorboards and wonky walls. My room was well equipped. WiFi, tea making facilities, TV, and a lovely bathroom with a great shower. Being on my own this trip, I treated myself . It was a family weekend, and the location was ideal to meet . Walking distance to the railway and the Quays. And the inn is at the heart of the city. A well-used restaurant, and entertainment.

Very attractive town, full of Regency terraces (Bath's younger brother). Some excellent restaurants and pubs. We stayed in a central inn, full of character with enthusiastic young staff. Very well placed for traffic free walking to Guildhall, Cathedral and Docks. Interesting mix of shops, cafes etc. We attended a Guildhall event one evening and a Cathedral event another and ran out of time for a return to the Docks. We plan to return to see Gloucester in the Spring.

Stroud is a town with plenty of character. There are many independent shops and alternative lifestyles are welcome. There are many coffee shops and restaurants. We especially enjoyed The Curio restaurant, King St, Woodruffs coffee shop and Rajat Indian restaurant. We walked along the canal to Stroud Brewery which has a good bar and restaurant. That was an easy walk. We walked up Swifts Hill, Slad Valley and had a drink in the Woolpack, not so easy but very enjoyable. This is a must for fans of Laurie Lee's books.

There is free parking on the front of the shops, but you will have to get there early, to secure a spot. There is also a pay and display car park, and the train station car park is also available.
