We received a very warm welcome from the host. It is a lovely little B&B with a good mix of antiques and new design. Everything is very lovingly decorated. For breakfast we had homemade jam and even the butter is homemade. The location couldn't be better is in the heart of Arundel. There are many small antique shops and cafes. The castle is a few minutes walk away. We would love to come back!

One of the best hotel spas we've been to in England! The place is really well maintained, has all the charms of yesteryears but the conveniences of today. I especially enjoyed the pool, wish I could've swam more! The food was also really lovely, haven't seen a delicious breakfast spread like that in ages.

The Alfriston Hotel is by far the best we’ve experienced. The style is elegant, the staff incredibly welcoming, and the room was spotless and beautifully designed. We loved the peaceful spa and the delicious breakfast every morning. Everything was just perfect – we felt truly cared for. The village of Alfriston itself is charming and full of character – the perfect setting for a relaxing escape. We will definitely be coming back!

Wonderful place, staff exceptionally helpful, friendly and attentive. Lots of character and history to the house and area. Beautiful grounds and surrounding area. It is such an interesting town and quite hilly, i walked in and visited the cathedral and the castle both were amazing. The castle was huge but was expensive to visit but it does not disappoint. The gardens are also amazing and lovely to see. I would certainly recommend this to anyone who is down that way to visit.

Lewes is very good as a place to stay if you are interested in history or just like browsing local shops. It also has excellent railway connections so you can get to Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and up into Sussex by public transport. It is hilly and a good base if you want to explore the South Downs by walking. A good range of restaurants, pubs and cafes too.

The spa was very well apportioned and it was very quiet and secluded. The staff throughout the hotel were extremely pleasant. One thing they must do in the restaurant is ensure that the wine ordered has arrived and ready to drink before the food is served. It is not good form to serve the food without the wine bottle even being at the table, let alone not opened.

Pulborough is a really quiet picturesque area.

Pulborough is a really quiet picturesque area. There are lots of opportunities for nature walks and, if you’re living in the city like I am, it’s great to get out and be around quiet for a time. The area also has several beautiful venues for weddings, which is why I went and discovered the area. It’s great if you’re looking for a cute charming village getaway. It would definitely be easier to travel around by car, but we walked everywhere and were able to manage and enjoy the views.

We arrived late evening but they were very accomodating and friendly. Our room was comfortable, clean and had amazing shower. Besides having time with an old friend who lives in Steyning, I especially enjoyed walking up onto the Downs (via the Upper Horseshoe trail) and admiring the wonderful view of the Downs and the sea and the Weald of Sussex. I was impressed by the Community Orchard and the conservation scheme to re-establish species-rich chalk grassland. I made good use of the buses - would have been stranded without them! I enjoyed a brief visit to the parish church and was sorry not to have more time to have a good look round the museum. I enjoyed a good meal in an Italian restaurant near the Clock Tower.
