We were doing the C2C and it was the best hotel. Very comfy, they help us with the bikes. Amazing breakfast... Special mention for Georgia who help us in the breakfast (we were 6 and we were quite annoying asking her a lot). She answered and resolve everything with a smile and she didn't complain. Thank you Georgia ❤️

Staff were simply amazing: extremely kind and helpful. On the day of our check-out we had a taxi booked at 5.30am and the staff were kind enough to let us (and our kids) have a proper breakfast at 5am!!! The location is great for visiting the city centre or for traveling via metro/train or bus. The room was of a good size and the bed quite comfy.

To all you unfit people out there, just be aware that there is a climb into the main shopping/social area of Newcastle (Grey street/rd),lovely coming down it,but he'll on your legs going up the first couple of times. Lovely riverside market on Sundays that we didn't know about, food stalls from all over the world there, plus lovely little independent craft stalls. Plenty to do in town if bad weather head to the indoor food/shopping area called Eldon square, lots of shops and food retailers all under one roof, plenty of choice for everyone.

Sunderland is a city on the up. There are very good restaurants and bars in the city centre, they have two great beaches in Roker and Seaburn. The riverside is currently being revamped and is looking great with new walkways and cycling

I was there for business, it was a lovely place to visit, so close to Newcastle and the surrounding areas. Wish I could have stayed longer to do some more exploring. The roads were quiet, and the area was clean. Loved the Angel of the North

People in South Shield is very friendly and I have good experiences. The building and architechture is interesting. We love Chinese food at Phoenix restaurant in China town Newcastle and Frozen Yogurt in Grainger Market. Take away from Crown of India are fantastic food on Ocean Road. There are free 3 hours parking which is very helpful and convenient for tourists. My daughter said that there are load of children entertainment in order of fun things for children are Life Science Museum more fun than Hancock museum. She like Liang Museum so much.

I would have liked to have given a better review but unfortunately we had an issue with a faulty oven & hob. Although the electrician attended he was unable to rectify the issue concluding a new oven was required. This left us with only the hob which also tripped out if using more than one ring. Gordon offered us a full refund if we booked out after one night. However this was not acceptable as we had events planned for Saturday. Also, as we had planned to self cater we had bought in food which was wasted and we had to dine out with unexpected expenditure. i.e Friday evening & Saturday evening. Gordon offered a reduction of £100.00 which we thought reasonable, & accepted. We appreciate Gordon would have no control over the oven issue & being weekend there was little that could be achieved until working weekday.

Nice hotel right on the coast at Tynemouth, near Cullercoats. A short walk to the lovely village at Tynemouth and alternatively in the other direction to Whitley Bay. Good restaurant and breakfast served daily sets you up for the day. Good choice if this is the area you seek to visit.

We knew abought Houghton le Spring already. We needed to be in Stanley, Durham, and East & West Rainton so hotel was ideally situated. We used the in-house Restaurants & Bar on 3 nights and the Italian Restaurant across the road ! night.. There are bus routes outside the Hotel - I believe maximum fare of £2.00.

The people were lovely and friendly.

The people were lovely and friendly. But, this is not and upmarket place to stay. It was full of drunks and druggies (even the taxi driver and the electrician said this) It was just like some of the worst council estates we have here in the UK. I didn't go out at night with the dog because of this. There were quite a few pit bulls around, including the one upstairs. The property itself was ok and comfortable, but left a lot to be desired. The cutlery drawer was at ground level, there were slugs on the worktop every other morning and the fridge was awkward to open - you had to shut the kitchen door to get into it! But the owner was helpful and friendly.
