There’s so much to do in Ambleside, and I think I’ll definitely come again in another season. You can enjoy poetic walks, explore local heritage sites, or even catch a movie or a play. For the sporty ones, there’s hiking, biking, water sports, and even rock climbing. During my stay, there were a few rainy days and even Storm Amy, but none of that changed the beauty of the Lake District. I’ll surely be back — again and again.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

I've been visiting Grasmere for many years. It's a beautiful village but is is sad too see so many premises vacant and some of the old buildings derelict. some of the Hotels have closed as well.Guest review byWilliamUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Has a nice period 'feel'.
Has a nice period 'feel'. Lots of one-off shops and very few national chain stores. Quite hilly, which could be challenging in slippery conditions. The promenade provides an excellent, uncluttered walk along the marshy coastline, particularly in good weather. Lots of great, family-run restaurants and 'eating pubs'. Provides a civilised alternative to the popular holiday resorts.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A small village with more than enough eating venues, accommodation, shops. Every venue us professionally managed, locals friendly and appreciate visitors. These people know how yo present their village to the best of their ability. Sits on the edge of Ullswater and has the ferry terminal for you to take advantage of and sail the length of the lake.Guest review byGlenisUnited Kingdom
