The personal was really nice, always there when we needed something, helped us with car rental, everyday cleaning, including Sundays 😀. The price was really fair 👌. And the way to the beach, we loved it. Some 15 minutes slow walk 🚶‍♀️ in a countryside like street. Would for shire come again. Thank you!

The room was lovely. There are restaurants within walking distance and the beach was about 7-9 minutes walk from the hotel.. The hotel itself was a destination...You immediately calm down the minute you arrive ...easy going away from the crowds but just 15 minute drive from Aegina town. There was a bus stop about 50 meters( an easy walk) from the hotel...Great hospitality ...no stress here I would highly recommend it!.

I liked everything. The vibe and energy is exceptional. Relaxed, welcoming, peaceful and authentic place. I appreciated the cozy comfortable room and bed, the colorful atmosphere, the view, the location just a few steps down to the ocean for great swimming and sun bathing. The staff was super friendly, the food was fresh and tasty (options a bit limited), rooms PERFECTLY clean. And then adorable cats on the property. So sweet and so lovely. Added extra value to my stay. To see animals taken great care of is a good sign of a place. Very nice to walk along the coast. I also hiked up to the Temple of Aphaia, partly on asphalt, partly on gravel through olive tree grounds. Nice. I extended my stay and are already planning on coming back.

FAQs about hotels on Aegina

Mingle with the Locals

Situated under 30 km from Athens in the centre of the Argosaronic Gulf, the beautiful island of Aegina remains unspoiled by mass tourism. Covered by pine trees, this charming island is a precious weekend destination for the Athenians.

Aegina Town is the main town of the island and has a unique selection of monuments and buildings, including the Archaeological Museum and imposing neoclassical buildings. Booking.com offers a selection of hotels, guest houses and apartments in the area.

The Temple of Aphaea, the Monastery of Agios Nectarios and the Cathedral of Aegina are some of the island’s main attractions. The medieval town of Paleohora is located near the Temple of Aphaea and Agia Marina. The archaeological site of Kolona is a prehistoric settlement that is the site of Apollo’s Temple.

The long sandy beach of Agia Marina is ideal for families with young kids, thanks to the shallow waters, sunbeds and restaurants. The picturesque beach of Souvala is popular for its therapeutic springs, while the beach of Marathonas is perfect for relaxation.

Cultivated since 1860, the pistachios of Aegina are well-known for their quality and flavour. Visit the colourful village of Mesargos and you will find a variety of traditional ceramics and potteries.

We stayed in the very comfortable harbor area of Aegina Town. Just a 40-minute ferry from Athens' Pireaus port. Ancient sites to visit. Lots of harbor restaurants for beverages and dining. A relaxing way to settle in from international travel before our extended tour of Athens and the Peloponnese tour. Would have been a great wind-down stay afterward too.

The beach is the longest sandy beach on Aegina which is predominately lovely sand there are some mixed stones and sand at the far but nothing to bad. The water is shallow and mainly calm wit a big sand bar a few meters out I would say very safe for children The sunbed range in quality and price ranging from 20 euros a set with parasol to 12 euros which obviously also is based on location and convenience to the beach bars and taverna's. Some beds are free if you spend money in the taverna's We loved the beach and clear warm warms that September brings

Souvala is quieter than Aegina Town but that is not a bad...

Souvala is quieter than Aegina Town but that is not a bad thing. It is more laid back. It has some good tavernas, bars and restaurants. The souvlaki at Theophilos is to die for. With a Greek salad and a small Carafe of wine , two Souvlakis 17 Euros. That's great. There us a,small beach near the small harbour. There is also a another beach slightly out of the town which in high season has sunbeds and a bar. Just a short walk.. Souvala has a good Supermarket Bakery and some other little shops too. Lovely little place. And 15 mins by taxi to.Aegina,Town .

Like mentioned, 17 days were too long.

Like mentioned, 17 days were too long. But with a car it made a difference. My daughters boys are not young children, they are super active 17 and 14 year old teenagers and the activities my daughter and them did around the island is mindboggling. Snorkeling, scuba diving, renting bikes going all over the island. Climbing the highest point in Moni Island and jumping off cliffs. I am sure they know the island better then a lot of locals. We live in Cape Town, SA and are spoiled by unbelievable scenery, so its often hard not to compare. The time of year we chose was great. Warm nights, hot days and the water amazingly warm.

Public transport on the island is not great so personal...

Public transport on the island is not great so personal transport is required. You can see all you need to in 24-48 hours. I’m glad I visited but I didn’t find anything to make me want to return. My travel companion is vegan and it was very difficult to find vegan options on menus, and none that contained vegan protein in the many restaurants in Aegina or Perdika which we also visited.

Great city with very nice and inviting streets to browse around, shop, lunch/dinner places. Aegina has also a very pittoresk port area with lots of opportunities having a drink and enjoying the view to the fishing boats and yachts. Aegina Stadt is also a great place to start excursions by scooter, car or by feet.

Agia Marina is great.

Agia Marina is great. I have been there many times and will go back next year. Nikos beach bar is the best place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are many places to eat and drink. We weren't looking for nightlife so I have no idea about what is available but the bars were very nice. The sandy beach is lovely and the water is shallow for a long way out so great for children. There are well stocked supermarkets, a great pharmacy and a lovely bakery. Basically everything you need for a simple beach holiday. People are very friendly. A trip to the Temple of Aphaia is highly recommended. You CAN walk (we did) but I wouldn't recommend it if you are not used to really steep hill walking. Taxis and buses will take you there. We always enjoy our stay in Agia Marina and will keep going back.
