The people in Naxos were all so kind and thoughtful. The town felt very authentic. The food was delicious. The island had many charming places , but was difficult to navigate. We loved spending 6 nights in Paros. We rented a car. It was stick shift. A tad scary for me. But it was doable. Paros has great beach clubs. My daughters booked horse riding one day and then walked to the nearby town. After we met at a great beach club, we had lots of great dinners and sunsets. Fabulous shops. We drove to Leifros one day. We like Paros best. Taxis were outside the hotel. Also there was a transport office two doors up that arranged rides to beach club for us and picked us up. On arrival it is confusing - hotel is built on upper slopes...
On arrival it is confusing - hotel is built on upper slopes of caldera, so it has different levels. On the plus side as soon as you leave the hotel you are on the famous Fira/Oia walk - turn right for Fira. You are on the highest part of the caldera so initially it is downhill, also you are close to Skaros rock which is worth visiting for the views and has a church partially hidden on the seaward side at a slightly lower elevation. Having stayed two weeks in Perissa, I dare say I know it a bit. It's a great mix of not too big of a town, plenty of groceries shopping spots, Restaurants with some great offers, nice beaches (even though one has to get used to black sand) and cultural spots like a very nice Orthodox Church and some historic ruins if you dare to hike a bit.
