FAQs about hotels on Santorini
A Greek Island Dream
Imagine a typical Greek island with whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and sloping cliffs, and the chances are that you’re thinking of Santorini. Protectively curving around 4 other islands in its archipelago, this volcanic island has fertile ground bringing forth lovely rosé wine and some of the sweetest cherry tomatoes you’ll ever taste.
High on a caldera shelving into the sea, the capital Fira overlooks the cruise liners plying the turquoise Aegean waters below. North is Imerovigli, home to several 5-star Santorini hotels with fantastic views.
Also providing amazing views is the accommodation in Oia across the bay. Cascading down the slopes, the sea of white here is only dispersed by vibrant pink flowers, blue domes and the brown of ancient windmills, all becoming black silhouettes as the sun sets.
Santorini Airport is on the other side of the island and 2 resorts south of it – Kamari and Perissa – have the best, black sand beaches. However, the most visually impressive is Red Beach at Akrotiri where the stunning red colour of the caldera and sand makes the trek down the rockface well worth it. Just time it right to avoid high tide! Also near Akrotiri are excavations of a Minoan era settlement.
Wherever you choose to stay, Booking.com has a fantastic range of B&Bs, apartments and hotels in Santorini (Thira in Greek).

the views - night and day were great, The people are really friendly and the food.... fantastic! the protion sizes are huge, they really like to feed you! good quality food too. Favourite restaurants Nouassa No Name Bechemal Easy to get around Santorini - use the local buses from the main bus station. There is a bus timetable for all of the services. the signage on the buses isn't always clear, but you just ask the bus driver or ticket conductors. You will need change for the buses - most journeys are 2 euros. they only take cash. You will do alot of walking - comfy shoes are a must and there are alot of steps too.....this may impact anyone with joint issues. Akrotiri - great place to visit - you can also take a boat ride around to red beach. Local homemade lemonade is the best - served in quite a few cafes Mythos beer is a good beer Thira and Oia get quite busy when the cruise ships dock.Guest review byLouise - 10.0

We found it a great location, as it was quiet and had some of the best views of the island. We were still close enough to Fira to visit on foot, and there were good transport links to get elsewhere as well. Plenty of good and varied restaurants, some of which were real gemsGuest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Third time to the island of Santorini. Twice to Kamari. Beautiful beach. Amazing atmosphere. Spoilt for choice for restaurants and things to do. Can be as high or low budget as you wish. The place to leave your life behind and rejuvenate. Solo travel, couples or family get away, Kamari serves all.Guest review byClaireIreland - 10.0

Having stayed two weeks in Perissa, I dare say I know it a bit. It's a great mix of not too big of a town, plenty of groceries shopping spots, Restaurants with some great offers, nice beaches (even though one has to get used to black sand) and cultural spots like a very nice Orthodox Church and some historic ruins if you dare to hike a bit. It's wasn't too crowded either, so if you consider going, do so Early - Mid September.Guest review bySherman SiegeLuxembourg - 8.0

A village with bakery, gyros place, souvenir shop & good sized mini market. Walkable to Fura though a noisy main road. Buses good too but more value for money the further you are going. Taxis quite expensive so we walked a lot.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Lovely village but getting very busy.
Lovely village but getting very busy. Restaurants were excellent and staff in them very polite and attentive. Greece is not cheap these days so you have to pay the same as in UK for meals etc. Wine is very expensive but nice to see that they only sell Greek wine in supermarkets and restaurants.Guest review byElaineUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Liked that it was away from Fira. Fira so crowded.
Liked that it was away from Fira. Fira so crowded. One day 6 cruise ships in Port. We ate 2 nights at Romantica taverna. Traditional Greek restaurant, good food and happy staff. Easy to walk around in you don't mind stairs and uphill. Walk from Fira to Oia 10km, something to do and overview of area.Guest review bySusanAustralia - 10.0
