We really enjoyed paddling through the chanal with our SUP to some of the more secluded small beaches. Bogdan is a fabulous host, cheerful, allways available and very helpful. His property is very well equipped (even two refrigerators), clean and with a nice sheltered terrace in the back (you can comfortably sit there all day even at high temperatures, sun or rain). Due to its setup (3 floors), it stays quite cool in the lower floors and with the AC you can also easily keep the top floor cooled. The 6 of us (2 grandparents, 2 parents, 2 small kids) had more than enough space. There is no shop in this small town, but there are plenty of shops and a farmers market in 15 minutes driving distance. (The power plant didn't bother us at all.) Food is amazing, we were there on half board. So many choices, changes every day. Some pies even for breakfast, and a lot of local specials for dinner (e.g. fritule, kelj na padelu...) , delicious seafood options (squid, brudet, mijesana riba). Nice walk Lungo mare accessible from hotel, kids beach (Tomislavec?) is very close also. An interesting old city with a lot to see and enjoy. Bars to suit everyone's taste Historic buildings such as the castle and the Theatre which has very cheap seats compared to the UK. For example a Puccini opera stall seats for the equivalent of £20 each. The market situated in beautiful old buildings with a good quality fresh food. If you are flying from Rijeka airport the bus to get there is very confusing. Despite what they say you cannot book online. Of the 3 bus stations in the city none of them sell tickets for the airport bus.....although they will direct you to each other. The airport bus leaves from Jelacicev Trg (square) and takes preferably cash : E15 each or will take card at a push. We found Senj to be a great place to stay. It was perfect for driving to other activities and sites like the Fortress, beaches and Plitvice Park. Although there is not much to Senj old town, it was very nice to explore and enjoy the plaza and restaurants. Malinska has a very long coast line with a multitude of beaches, from stony and secluded to small pebbles good for children. A picturesque center with a lot of eateries and bakeries, large grocery stores where you can buy excellent meats and fruits.
