FAQs about hotels in Bali
An Island Dream
The dream destination of Bali is where volcanic landscape meets lush rice terraces and pristine beaches. Not to mention the fantastic surfing, cheap shopping and pervading spirituality that have made this Indonesian island a long-time favourite for backpackers.
The island’s capital is Denpasar in the south, but its surf and party capital is nearby Kuta. Swaying palm trees line the beach here and many more cover the grounds of the Bali hotels on the beach in more exclusive Seminyak to the north.
On the island’s north coast, Pemuteran beach offers lovely views of the sloping mountains heading towards the Bali Sea. Many beaches on this coast are black sand, including sweeping Lovina beach from where dolphins can often be seen. Tulamben in the east is one of the better diving resorts in Bali, while Sanur is a popular option for families.
Ubud is the island’s cultural capital and houses a monkey sanctuary in its jungle-like landscape. An ancient Hindu temple is found here, but the best-known temple is Tanah Lot, surrounded by water. There are also hundreds of fantastic spas in Bali, as well as meditation and yoga classes that you can join.
Whether you choose to stay inland or by the beautiful coastline, Booking.com has a great range of villas, guest houses and hotels in Bali.

- From US$947.71 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 611 reviewsA fabulous property, very well maintained, which is truly impressive given the size of it. Their "Ubud escape" motto could not be more accurate, as it is a beautiful gem in the middle of the jungle, far from the busy town. I booked a Premier Pool Villa, but got upgraded to the Royal Villa. It was an absolute surprise! It's an extra spacious property with every facility you could wish for (they even have a mini kitchen in the pool area with a beverage stocked fridge) and if we hadn't booked any activities in advance, I think I would have spent 3 whole days by it's pool, just enjoying the greenery, the sound of the river nearby, the privacy & comfort that it offers. I loved the entrance to the rooms, the wooden door with offerings is a nice touch as it really transmits that Balinese feeling. Also, in short: - food is really good, many options, large portions. We also joined their BBQ dinner one night, which was very nice. - they offer shuttle services to and from Ubud town - they provide a whatsapp number for communication & infos, which is very helpful - SPA service is amazing, worth booking a massage - staff is friendly and happy to help anytime. We arrived very late for our check-in and they were so considerate and prepared some sandwiches for us to enjoy. It meant the world! I may be forced to come back again :) P.S.: Thank you, Luis, our butler, for your positive & caring attitude and always making us feel comfortable during our stayGuest review byFlorentinaRomania
- From US$33.62 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 924 reviewsI have travelled through the whole of Indonesia, and this is literally the best place you will get (for such a low price)! Super clean (no sewage smell as literally everywhere else), feeling 100% safe all the time, cool architecture and design (luxuriously youthful, with the pool, common areas - everything well maintained). Location is incredible - Kuta can be noisy and chaotic, but this one is on a quiet little street (but only 20 meters from the main street), and the beach is just a short walk from the inn (I went surfing twice a day (3min walk), everything else is less than a minute walk from the inn - shops, restaurants...). The staff is 1st class - SUPER kind, they are always helpful, making sure the facilities are spotless throughout the whole day and making sure the guests are feeling well. Special mention to the amazing Miss Lefiana, the hotel manager who made sure I felt at home, being extremely professional yet kind. Wherever I went for several days throughout my travel on Bali (Ubud, Canggu, Lombok ...) I kept coming back to Cara Cara ❤️Guest review byIvaSlovenia
- From US$524.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 336 reviewsKamandalu is the best villa we have ever stayed in Ubud. The villa is gorgeous and beautiful, and the staff there are so welcoming and friendly. I would especially give my big thanks to lady Sukma who works at the front desk. She helped me a lot in printing my document for work and she also tried very hard to take photos of the document! I really appreciate her assistance so much🙏 The restaurant is wonderful as well. The food there is so delicious that I can go there everyday😀 Ketu the chef is great and so are other staff working there! You could see their lovely smiles while working almost all the time! The spa of Kamandalu is also good and we enjoyed the massage treatments very much. The therapists are both so experienced and skillful. We really enjoyed the time we spent in Kamandalu and it is indeed a five-star villa estate that you will not regret to visit and stay.Guest review byKai WenTaiwan

The view from the property of Mount Agung is fantastic. We were fortunate enough to stay in the one bedroom private villa which was incredible! The villa had an enormous private infinity pool, wonderful indoor and outdoor lounging areas, beautiful master bedroom and bathroom with views of the mountain. I was blown away by this property and would love to stay again one day.Guest review byLouiseUnited Kingdom

Ubud has serious traffic congestion and crossing the road...
Ubud has serious traffic congestion and crossing the road becomes a practiced art. Pavements are a real problem as they are narrow and badly broken up, tripping hazards are commonplace. The roadside kerbing is much higher than normal so for anyone struggling with any type of walking disability, beware. Basically there are just too many tourists and day trippers which makes for even more traffic and crowding. Feels like I should have come here 25 years ago and would have found a completely different vibe. Taxi journey to and from the airport took two and a half hours through stop-start heavy traffic and a million scooters.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Kuta is now the quieter part of Bali.
Kuta is now the quieter part of Bali. Legian through to Canggu is the busier area now. Kuta is great for restaurants and bars. More suited to middle aged. Beach is not as good as Legian or Sanur, but acceptable.Guest review bysargentsteveAustralia - 8.0
Canggu is a party place more than sightseeing.
Canggu is a party place more than sightseeing. The beach close is quite nice (also for surfing) and in the night you can go close to the beach to visit some bars and clubs. The vibe is constantly there. You can also join some local hostel events and meet people there which is nice. More of a young people place, but always worth a visit.Guest review byVizintinSlovenia - 10.0
Always somewhere to eat in Seminyak.
Always somewhere to eat in Seminyak. From bustling Eat Street to the quieter back streets. Ginger Moon is one of my go to places for food and Sea Circus for a great breakfast. Ku De Ta has been upgraded to a beach club atmosphere. I think I’d give it a miss next time as it has lost its ambience of a relaxed place to watch the sun go down now that they have a pool which was full of families. Easy to navigate by foot, plenty of relaxation or activity. Local convenience stores and money changer are easily accessible.Guest review byCharleneAustralia - 6.0

Uluwatu is much more expensive and luxury compared to the rest of Bali. The place is under a massive construction renovation, there are construction site everywhere so it will be very different in a couple of years. We enjoyed our 4 days there but there is definetly less activities except for luxurious cliff restaurant and beach clubs.Guest review byAliceAustralia - 10.0

I loved everything I saw here, just wish I could have stayed...
I loved everything I saw here, just wish I could have stayed longer. I stayed at Prapat Beach, which was close enough to Penida Ferry Port and stunning, with an amazing view of Agung on a clear day. My accomodation was in a great spot and is as advertised. Sari Nadi Beach Stay is only a few k's from the harbour but with traffic, it took around 30mins. I did a tour of West island beaches, which I found disappointing because it was so busy, shoulder-to-shoulder busy! It felt it was impossible to really enjoy it with so many people. The walk down to Kelingking Beach might have been worth it if you didn't have to keep stopping for someone to get their perfect shot! The drive through the countryside was worth it alone though, and if your new to the island, it's a great way to get your bearings for a return visit. Crystal Beach was my pick of the beaches, just don't forget to bring a towel or change to hire one and a bed. Otherwise, you can sit at a table. Overall, I can't wait to go back! One tip, check if there are any days of (religious) observance when you stay. My stay coincided with Nyepi Laut, 'Silence of the Ocean' which means no water activity, great for me because it meant peace and quiet but not if you needed to travel that day.Guest review bySharonAustralia - 10.0

Great hotel in the middle of some lovely restaurants.
Great hotel in the middle of some lovely restaurants. Rooms are tired in need of upgrades and painting , but were clean and a very powerful shower. Staff were amazing and a good buffet breakfast with fresh omelette/pancakes. Pool area was relaxing and could do with a few more sunbeds. Didn’t get to the beach but a good shuttle service available. Supermarket and ATM just across the road.Guest review byJayneUnited Kingdom
