Less busy than some of the other resorts , the beach is pleasant with plenty of shade and sun lounges. There is a lovely paved beach walk which stretches for about 4 km, along which there are bars and restaurants, bike hire is available along this stretch. This is preferable to walking along the pavements with their usual Bali trip hazards and death-traps! At time of writing both sides of the pavements were being dug up and man-sized holes installed every few metres!!! I would definitely choose Sanur over the crowds and mayhem of Seminyak/Kuta/Legian. Great city to explore... wish we would have had more time to look around. Everyone we met or talked to were very friendly and kind. Highly recommend. I like the Sanur area of Bali for its combination of beach...
I like the Sanur area of Bali for its combination of beach front activities and shops / cafes. Due to traffic, it can be a hectic drive from the airport, but in my opinion with the challenges of getting there. Additionally, Sanur is near the ferry dock for access to offshore islands (Nusa Penida and the Gili islands). Denpasar is often overlooked and yet has so much to offer. There is history, culture, good food and places with open space, great views and room to walk if you know where to look. It's also a great base from which you can visit other areas and enjoy unique experiences with little travel time. It was easy to get around but little to do nearby. A great turtle conservation centre that will keep most people occupied for up to an hour. Sanur area has both quiet and more busy parts to it. Lots of eateries, from very affordable Warungs up to the more expensive resort restaurants. Several beaches with locals and not just tourists. Shopping ,consisted of the many small stalls, also Icon Mall and the Sindhu Beach market. Unfortunately rubbish , especially plastic is a real problem, which needs prompt attention, otherwise it will be soon out of control. Absolutely loved Denpasar, you felt that you were amongst the local of Bali and it was nice to see this part of Bali.
