The Lake Hotel has its charm and nostalgia being situated in Killarney National Park overlooking Muckross Lake. The Lake Hotel was able to move our check-in date forward one day for a two nights stay without charge. We requested to be seated for breakfast by the window to admire the beautiful lake views. We had clothes laundry service with same day turnaround time. Live music entertainment was played in the bar lounge on both nights. On our day of arrival, our room was not ready as we checked in much earlier than scheduled time. We sat by the bar for drinks and were greeted by Niall Huggard, General Manager and Co-Proprietor of the Lake Hotel. How's that for hotel service?

Staff were welcoming and friendly - when I arrived the restaurant had closed for the night but they offered to get me food from the kitchen, which was appreciated. The food was very good, particularly if you like seafood - the fish pie was very tasty. The room was clean and comfortable and had a small balcony. The hotel is a couple of minutes' walk from the harbour at the end of the village street.

Cork is a very vibrant, walkable, trendy city.

Cork is a very vibrant, walkable, trendy city. I highly recommend doing the get on - get off bus and getting off at any stops that interest you. There's so much more to the city than just the centre hub. The English market is great for all your fresh food needs! Meat, veg, fish, baking ... Especially if you've got a kitchen where you're staying! It was exciting to explore through there. The old Cork Gaol was very interesting. We spent hours there exploring rooms and I highly recommend the audio tour. You're not going to get the same experience from the paper tour. Our time in Cork just wasn't long enough! We had breakfast at Spitjacks ... I highly recommend! Visit the Blarney castle! Go early & try to be 1 of the first up to the stone if you're doing that ... The crowds come thick & fast & if you're back at the beginning of the castle, it can be up to an hour wait & longer. Explore the gardens ... They're full of really cool stuff! There's not really a lot to do in Blarney itself but a stroll in the garden is great!

We are in our 70's from Australia and loved Killarney.

We are in our 70's from Australia and loved Killarney. Gorgeous town, lots to do and the best fish and chip shop - on the right hand corner as you go into town but unfortunately the name escapes me - a modern shop with a glass frontage. We ate there twice. Great music and shopping. The Gap of Dunloe Tour was excellent and good value for money and very informative guides. The drive down over the Caha Pass and through the tunnels, then down through the Killarney National park is stunning. And lots of viewpoints along the way which is great. Love the horse and carts as well, colourful and a great choice when you have done enough walking.

We really enjoyed Limerick. The people were lovely. The food was great. The city centre is compact and easy to get around. The Treaty City Brewery was a high spot as were the Museum of Limerick (really helpful staff) and the People's museum (shared their enthusiasms with us). We enjoyed the street art very much.

Dingle is a very pretty town with a lot of pubs and restaurants although booking restaurants in advance would be advisable as Dingle is a popular tourist centre. There seems to be live Irish music in pubs every night. There are boat trips from the harbour but that is weather dependant and they did not run during the week of our stay owning to very high winds. Dingle is a great base for exploration of the beautiful Dingle Penisula

It is quaint without being twee - the coloured houses are iconic. We enjoyed seeing them in the real and they are so well kept. The shops sell local produce - Aran sweaters, wooden goods, art, honey etc which are well worth buying. We were there to do parkrun on Inis Meain so we spent a day there. Anyone who likes being in the wild would be in heaven. The views are amazing and the peacefulness is palpable. The pub serves hearty fare and well priced. The ferry trip was great fun but we were lucky with the weather. Eating in Doolin at night is a lively affair with trad music on in most pubs. I would love to have stayed longer.

Kenmare is an absolutely charming town on the southern side of the Kerry Peninsula. Great dining, wonderful places to stay, such fun to walk all over the town and the perfect launching point for our tour around the Ring of Kerry. We stayed in a wonderful 'townhouse hotel' (bed and breakfast over a beloved pub) right in the heart of the town and loved it. Killarney seems to be the most popular launching point for exploring the Ring of Kerry but we opted for smaller, more local and charming in Kenmare. Absolutely the right choice for our family of four.

Ennis is a really nice town to visit. There's a nice atmosphere to the place. Even though the whole of the centre was being dug up for improvements it was still really interesting to walk around. The bars were great. Good music and never closed if you were still drinking, it seemed.
