Alwar has extraordinary architectural treasures and is beautifully situated. However like a lot India it does require patience. The main palace which is now government offices is very badly maintained with litter marring much of the cityscape. The bird park is exceptional. So clean and a joy to be in. We saw sooooo many birds. Our guide Rinkesh was very knowledgeable and found so many birds for us. We also saw antelope, deer and a couple of jackal. We decided to walk and were up for the 06.00 opening. We covered about 10km on foot over 4 hours. Wear good shoes or boots if you are going to do this. Rinkesh carried a Japanese telescope with him which was just brilliant for the long distance birds.
