unique location, great view over the entire bay of la spezia, sunrise like on a postcard. staff at breakfast, bar, restaurant, cleaning and desk are all equally friendly. relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. breakfast was great, and we highly appreciated the willingness to serve vegetarian dishes at dinner, especially coocked for us. the taxi service (for a fee) to porto venere and la spezia is very nice, so we had to take the adventure of driving the narrow access road less often. had a very pleasant stay!

FAQs about hotels in Cinque Terre

Cliff-Hugging Beauty

One of Liguria’s most beautiful areas, the Cinque Terre are 5 UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages dramatically positioned on the Mediterranean coastline.

Each has a train station, but the most exhilarating way to visit the Cinque Terre is on foot. It’s not easy at times, but is definitely rewarding. The route starts (or finishes) at Riomaggiore, the southern-most village, home to a range of accommodation including a few Cinque Terre hotels on the beach.

The easy road between here and Manarola is called the Via dell’Amore, or Lovers’ Lane. Colourful Manarola houses hug the rocky cliffs overlooking the turquoise water below. The next village along is Corniglia, the only one not by the beach, but which offers panoramic views from its hilltop position.

Next is Vernazza, arguably the most picturesque of the 5, spread over a narrow promontory jutting into the sea and with a castle tower at its tip. Still very much a fishing village, it is centred around its small harbour and beach.

The longest beach is at Monterosso al Mare, the last town on the trail. Due to its location and easy access, it is home to what are possibly the best Cinque Terre hotels for families on Booking.com. However, whichever village you choose to stay in, you can expect wonderful views and fantastic food.

Excellent property, very close to the beach as well as the Monterosso train station. Checking-in was a breeze as the keys were ready for us before we arrived. We were also able to get an early check-in by about an hour. Monterosso is also fairly flat meaning it was an easy walk to the property even with luggage. The room is beautiful and cute with a small garden attached. We had our own entryway so it had good privacy. The room is slightly bigger than a queen bed, fits a queen bed nicely and has a table and chairs set. Very well appointed room. The garden also had an outdoor seating area, and we had our breakfast there (our own food). Highly recommend this property as it's good and at a good location.

We just stayed at this beautiful hotel with my family and had the most wonderful experience. The hotel itself is stunning, with breathtaking views from absolutely everywhere — our room, the restaurant, the breakfast area, and even the pool all offered incredible panoramas that made the stay unforgettable. The staff was amazing — truly one of the highlights of our stay, specially the Venezuelan brothers — they were very kind, helpful, and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and well-prepared, with plenty of options to choose from, and we also enjoyed a lovely dinner at the restaurant.

This place is exceptional! A Pearl! A beautiful hotel in a beautiful village. Staff is amazing and friendly. This village and its beach are super busy, the owner could choose to rent out the beds of his private part of the beach and cash in, but no, it is reserved for guests only. Trust me they could have rented to hundreds of people I witnessed it 😉. Same goes for the outside seating, guest only, breakfast I. the morning and bar service rest of the day. I am definitely going back!

Excellent hotel! Outstanding service — it definitely deserves a solid 4*+ rating. The staff is very attentive, the pool is large and well-maintained, and the dinners along with the drink menu are truly impressive. There’s no need to look for restaurants nearby — just book a table in advance, and you’re guaranteed a top-level experience. Rooms facing the marina and the port offer a stunning view, and the street itself is quiet and peaceful.

The breakfast was amaizing, the staff even did our laundry for free and gave us ice cream from the bar/shop. Staff was really nice and extra accomodating. Hard to get to from the train station on foot if you miss the bus. Runs rarely, so we’d sometimes have to walk back up the mountain for an hour to get to the hotel but the scenery was beautiful so we didnt mind.

Location excellent, immediately across from the beach. Pebbles on the beach, maybe bring beach shoes. Garage parking excellent without which we would have needed to walk up to 1km, cost seemed fair. Range of restaurants within 10minutes and 20minutes. Room spartan, however very functional. Thank you we loved our stay.

Monterosso is the most liveable town in Cinque Terra.

Monterosso is the most liveable town in Cinque Terra. Much of it is comparatively flat and it has long picturesque beaches. We are 72 years old and walked the trail from Monterosso to Venazza to Corniglia in one day. It was a bit too much and we should have done it over two days. We had 3 nights and 2.5 days in CT and it was enough to do the walking and see all the sites.

I loved hiking fron Riomaggiore to Manarola! Via Beccara hike was a climb killer, but i loved it! Seafood was fresh! Picturesque, relatively small and quiet compared to the other cinque Terre towns. Centrally located so I could begin day walks in both directions. Best not to carry heavy luggage up the hill from the train station (around 380 steps) - use the bus… only 1,50 Euros but expect to wait 15-30 mins at peak time. The walks to Vernazza and on to Monterosso, and also the walk to Manarola are magnificent, just be prepared for lots of steps.

We used La Spezia as a place to visit Cinque Terre region. We were somewhat disappointed in Cinque Terre. It is overcrowded and somewhat dilapidated. The buildings could be refreshed with a coat of paint. The best way to see the region is to take the train to Vernazza, then take a 2-hour boat trip to view the five villages. You need to be lucky with the weather. The ferry boat gets cancelled when the seas are high.
