FAQs about hotels in Cinque Terre
Cliff-Hugging Beauty
One of Liguria’s most beautiful areas, the Cinque Terre are 5 UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages dramatically positioned on the Mediterranean coastline.
Each has a train station, but the most exhilarating way to visit the Cinque Terre is on foot. It’s not easy at times, but is definitely rewarding. The route starts (or finishes) at Riomaggiore, the southern-most village, home to a range of accommodation including a few Cinque Terre hotels on the beach.
The easy road between here and Manarola is called the Via dell’Amore, or Lovers’ Lane. Colourful Manarola houses hug the rocky cliffs overlooking the turquoise water below. The next village along is Corniglia, the only one not by the beach, but which offers panoramic views from its hilltop position.
Next is Vernazza, arguably the most picturesque of the 5, spread over a narrow promontory jutting into the sea and with a castle tower at its tip. Still very much a fishing village, it is centred around its small harbour and beach.
The longest beach is at Monterosso al Mare, the last town on the trail. Due to its location and easy access, it is home to what are possibly the best Cinque Terre hotels for families on Booking.com. However, whichever village you choose to stay in, you can expect wonderful views and fantastic food.

- From US$185.28 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,606 reviewsThis wonderful, cozy hotel completely won me over from the very first moment! We had a room with a breathtaking sea view — pure magic. You fall asleep and wake up to the gentle whisper of the waves, and in the evening, you enjoy a mesmerizing sunset with a glass of the local wine — which is incredibly delicious! On your own balcony, in this little personal paradise, you need nothing else to feel complete happiness. The hotel is located on a quiet pedestrian street, where after 11 PM a peaceful silence settles — no car noise, just calm and relaxation. Parking is just a minute’s walk away, very convenient! It’s right on the first line — just a few steps and you’re already on the beach. A huge plus is that the hotel has its own private beach (35 euros for two loungers and an umbrella for the whole day), where no other tourists are allowed, so there’s always plenty of space — especially important during the busy season when public beaches are packed. I loved absolutely everything! The great location, friendly and attentive staff, the room without unnecessary frills but with all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was a delight: fresh eggs, cheeses, cold cuts, fragrant croissants, and what stood out was the incredibly tasty potato pie! Monterosso al Mare is an intimate, charming place where you can truly unwind and recharge. I highly recommend staying here for 3 to 4 days to fully experience its atmosphere and tranquility. A huge thank you to the hotel for an unforgettable stay! We will definitely come back here at the first opportunity!Guest review byAnnaItaly
- From US$150.54 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 452 reviewsWe had the 2 person room, large enough for a table and chairs as well as a 2 person sofa. Fridge, wardrobe, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. (Supply your own milk) Shower room with a decent sized cubicle. Toiletries supplied and a hairdryer. Decent WiFi signal. Comfortable double bed on a mezzanine platform, accessed by a narrow but perfectly safe staircase. Small courtyard where you could sit outside and breakfast was served here. Breakfast was very good, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt and cereal. Selection of meat and cheese. Bread, croissant and focaccia and scrambled eggs. Fruit juice and tea or coffee. All bought to your own table. Room made up each day. Quiet location up a side street. 10 to 15 minutes walk from the station. Not too steep location. In the centre of Monterosso.Guest review byNigelUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 247 reviewsThe location was beautiful and the breakfast included the best coffee on our holiday, made by a wonderful barista! It was lovely to sit under the shade of trees and be served delicious croissants, fruit juice and fresh fruit. A nice surprise was the blues music playing in the bar/café, the helpful and friendly owners being huge fans! Also we were very happy to find the fish restaurant in the basement served fabulous food and the service was very friendly and efficient. It’s a place we would love to revisit!Guest review byJeffreyUnited Kingdom

Great location to explore Cinque Terre area by train (with free shuttle bus to the nearby train station - 5-10mins away). Helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Travelling from Rome, we made La Spezia our base to launch into the Cinque Terre. Fiume269 was just 10-min walk away from the main train station to travel to the 5 towns. Buses from near our stay take you easily to La Spezia's main attractions.Guest review byRobin GomesItaly - 10.0
By far the best of all 5 towns.
By far the best of all 5 towns. We stayed in the old part of Monterosso and it felt authentic. Much less crowded than the other towns. And much easier to navigate given that it's not all hills. Just a short stroll to the newer side of Monterosso and w plenty of eating spots to choose from.Guest review byNatalieUnited States - 10.0

I loved hiking fron Riomaggiore to Manarola! Via Beccara hike was a climb killer, but i loved it! Seafood was fresh! And water activities were fun, a bit chilly to be in the water in October, but it was still fun! Just make sure you are in mid-day and you have a change of clothes on the boat, or you’ll freeze!Guest review byRaquelUnited States - 10.0

Picturesque, relatively small and quiet compared to the other cinque Terre towns. Centrally located so I could begin day walks in both directions. Best not to carry heavy luggage up the hill from the train station (around 380 steps) - use the bus… only 1,50 Euros but expect to wait 15-30 mins at peak time. The walks to Vernazza and on to Monterosso, and also the walk to Manarola are magnificent, just be prepared for lots of steps.Guest review byJohnAustralia - 10.0

It was so special to be so close to Cinque Terre region by train and then to come back to the quiet comfort of Hotel Belvedere in the afternoon. There are great opportunities to hire a bike for a few hours and ride to the neighbouring towns of Fremura and Levanto- with all straight road access- no hills involved! The only downfall is the walk up and down the hill for the hotel and town commute- it can become quite tiresome after a long day of sightseeing - but overall a wonderful unforgettable stayGuest review byRAustralia
