Great location. Near to the station and places of interest. Staff is knowledgeable and communicate well in English, with an international line up of front desk staff. Spacious room and I like the wood craft and furniture mix. Not least, adjacent to one of the best hida beef restaurant in Takayama.

JAL hotel is amazing and has exceeded our expectation. The room was nicely sized but even better thing is that it was designed for practical use. The bed is comfy, the bathroom has a sperated shower and a bathtub glassdoor up from the toilet and sink area- pretty big comparing to the standard Japanese hotel bathroom size. The breakfast was great, many option foods ranging from traditional to classic American breakfast.

Beautiful very aesthetic new boutique hotel on a nice little street, very close to the omicho market and walkable distance from Kanazawa castle and station. The staff were so lovely and we loved all the little extra touches eg bath salts and dango on arrival, the free coffee/tea/juice station, the interior clothes in the bedroom.

We loved our stay here. The room was spacious and clean, the reception staff was extremely helpful and our room/ hotel terrace overlooked Mount Fuji. There’s also a common space where we could cook and eat our meals. This was, by far our best accommodation in Japan

    Kanazawa is a very interesting place to visit.

    Kanazawa is a very interesting place to visit. It has a similar charm as Kyoto, but with fewer crowds. We found it easy to get around the city by bus or on foot. We had 2 days here but could have stayed for 4 days or more.

    Great visits possible in this area - the Ropeway (cable car)...

    Great visits possible in this area - the Ropeway (cable car) up into the alps, the Onsen, Hida Village was superb and had loads of additional activities for children, and Takayama was a complete surprise with is bijou shops in the beautiful old quarter. There seemed to be plenty more to do including museums etc.

    We were able to take great pictures of Mt Fuji from our window. The onsen and buffet was great. The price was affordable for a group of 8 with free breakfast and dinner. The room was clean and Yukata was included. Highly recommended

    We really liked Matsumoto and it was a much more fun and interesting city than we expected. We had an overnight stay, largely to visit the famous castle, after visiting Kiso valley. Would happily have stayed longer.

    Lovely city, not overwhelming like Osaka and Tokyo. Lots of good shopping, bars and restaurants . Great base for traveling to see snow monkeys and ski resorts Stayed for 3 nights which was perfect for our holiday

    Shizuoka is a hidden gem.

    Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.

    I've been extremely lucky, I was in Niigata after a snowstorm and I found an amazing scenery of beaches under a white carpet. The fisherman market is an experience you should not miss, delicious food and crazy cheap bill. Try to drive the coastline!

    People there are very helpful and courteous. It is very clean, and uncongested. Quiet and peaceful, unlike the other cities. I highkt recommend pairing Toyama and Tetayama, i.e. 3 and 2 nights respectively . Simply amazing.

    Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us.

    Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us. Easy to get to from Osaka. Stayed in a traditional ryokan (tattoo friendly). Spent the day walking along the harbour to the ropeway up to Atami castle which had several different art displays and museums including an adults only one and a great view of the coast. Away from the beach things were pretty steep so a car might have been a sensible option
