This is the place to stay if you want to take advantage of all that Miyajima has to offer. They have a bus shuttle service from the train station to the hotel, but even if you don't use it, the hotel is still within walking distance of the train station/ferry. Very spacious rooms and comfortable beds, with quite an interesting bedside console to control all the lights and the aircon. Lovely view from the balcony as well and very helpful staff. The Japanese restaurant within the hotel also served delicious food! Sadly, I didn't have time to check out the pool and the onsen, but hopefully I will have the opportunity to do so next time.

Amazing experience in a traditional style with a modern comfort. The hotel is located in a quiet place ~20 mins walk from the ferry port. It may sound far but the hotel provides the shuttle bus as often as you need. We were prepared for the ryokan rules about the shoes, so it wasn’t a surprise for us. The traditional room is very beautiful, clean, looks better in real life than on the pictures. Nice view from the window, I even saw an eagle on the tree. The hotel staff is extremely polite and helpful. Usually the staff set up the bed after the dinner but they set it up for me when I asked for a day nap. The dinner and breakfast servings is extraordinarily. Nice choice of exclusive souvenirs, especially loved the Momiji manju cookies, the ones from the hotel are MUCH better than the ones from the shopping street. In general, I highly recommend to stay here at least for 1-2 night for better exploration of Miyajima without rush.

The position of the hotel was absolutely amazing and the view of the torii gate from our lovely and very well appointed top floor suite was just incredible. The staff were very friendly yet extremely polite and nothing was too much trouble for them. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and we wished we were staying for longer than just one night! Our stay at this modern hotel on Miyajima Island was fantastic from start to finish. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable — a perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. Although the hotel is about a kilometer from the ferry terminal, they offer a free and very convenient transfer service, which made everything super easy. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the famous Itsukushima Shrine, the iconic torii gate, and also close to the ropeway up Mount Misen. We chose a plan with dinner and breakfast included, and the dining experience was truly exceptional — dinner was a beautifully presented multi-course fine dining experience, and breakfast was a traditional Japanese-style meal that we really enjoyed. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and check-in, check-out, and arranging the transfer were all effortless. The small public bath was a great way to relax, especially the outdoor section, which was tastefully decorated with plants and felt amazing on a chilly night after a day of hiking. Highly recommended for a peaceful and luxurious stay on Miyajima!

I got a traditional Japanese room, with a low table in the middle, low chairs and futon beds. The truth is that everything was incredible. We had all the comforts (full bathroom, with all the necessary items), very comfortable beds, good bedding, an electric kettle to prepare whatever we wanted, although even on the ground floor there was also coffee and water to serve. The facility has a public Japanese bath, which we didn't go to because it didn't catch our attention, but we saw that many people used it. To get to the place you have to walk about 20 minutes, something to keep in mind if you go with luggage. The staff at the place was incredible, excellent treatment, very friendly and predisposed. The breakfast is excellent, it is a traditional Japanese breakfast and includes a refill of tea and rice. If I go to Miyajima again, definitely I would go to this hotel.

We spent two nights on the island, and it was absolutely amazing! In the evenings, after all the tourists have left, you can take a peaceful walk near the water and feel like you have the entire island to yourself. The guest house we stayed at was fantastic! Traveling with our 5-month-old, we felt incredibly welcomed. Our room was huge, especially compared to other accommodations in Japan, and the common area downstairs was spacious and inviting. They offered a mini buffet for both breakfast and dinner, which was just perfect for us. The atmosphere was relaxed and laid-back. The guest house is conveniently located halfway between the ferry terminal and the gondola. In the morning, we enjoyed a lovely walk through the park to the gondola and managed to beat the crowds. Highly recommend! They also has two onsen options which you essentially book just for your family.

An absolutely beautiful traditional ryokan set right on the edge of the park and surrounded by gardens. When I arrived, I received such a warm welcome and was escorted to my room and given tea, a snack, clothing and towels for my stay. My room was spacious and tastefully decorated - seating area by the window was a highlight to sit at in the morning and write or read, surrounded by trees and nature. The onsen was immaculately clean and relaxing. I was a little nervous about the traditional kaiseki dinner and breakfast because I’ve never tried anything like that before, but it was delicious and thoughtfully presented. The service was exceptional and it was great having the same host for both dinner and breakfast.

The property is gorgeous and so centrally located that it took us less than 5 minutes to walk from the ferry to it, even in the pouring rain. Likewise, the main attractions of Kawaguchi (apart from the hiking trails) are mere minutes away. But the real star is Yoko-san, the proprietor. She is such an angel! Her warmth and hospitality raises the bar even in a country that's generally considered the gold standard in customer service. I'd pick Ryoso Kawaguchi over a 4-star hotel any day of the week. You get the authentic ryokan experience on Miyajima island and I can't recommend it enough.

Very friendly and helpful staff from check-in and every meal service. Large quiet traditional tatami rooms. Wonderful private baths that are a must try. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, rivalling ryokans that are twice the price. Definitely recommend going for a stroll after dinner to see the sights at night.

Miyajima was great for walking around and doing the ropeway to the top. A lot of little eateries and street food- good if you like seafood. Scenic with the giant Tori gate and shrines, woods, deer walking around. Miyajima was one of my favorite spots on our trip to Japan.

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.
