- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 538 reviewsThe hotel is very well located and has a very efficient shuttle service from the Kawazu station: we were able to use it to drop our luggages in our room and go back to explore the Kawazu cherry blossom festival! The room is beautiful sea view. Public bath are very pleasant. All the hotel is adapted to children (welcome kits, high chairs, playing area, even the public baths are well equiped for them!). The staff is really nice and helpful. Thank you for this nice stay :)Guest review byMorganeFrance
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 91 reviewsThis is such a special ryokan, right on the river and overall it was a wonderful experience. There are multiple onsens to choose from. The ryokan food took us out of our comfort zone, and we tried Japanese dishes we never would have otherwise. The staff were all very helpful which added to making our stay pleasant. Make sure you arrive right on the check in time to make the most out of your stay or even better - opt to stay two nights! :-)Guest review byKarlienSouth Africa
- From US$165.19 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 994 reviewsWe got a bigger room type with balcony and partial ocean view on the 6th floor (highest). The room is big and comfortable. The view from the side is actually better than the front since it looks directly into the beach cove with hills and cliffs rather than the front of the hotel lawn. Breakfast is plentiful. The onsen is beautiful with great ocean view. Location is also very good, a short walk to Perry road and the historical center.Guest review byIsriyaThailand

Our kids had no trouble looking for their favorite food. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious too! Everywhere is so clean, staff spoke English and very friendly. The hot springs are exceptional. Loved our stay overall. Great ocean view everywhere in the hotel and our room by the way!Guest review bySarinaAustralia
- From US$89.19 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.2Good - What previous guests thought, 177 reviewsA well located hotel with a great view of the bay from every room. Attention to detail was nice - every guests is lent a kimono to wear for dinner during their stay. The dinner buffet is very good with a wide selection of food, including simple sushi. (Every nights' buffet is the same but that's ok.) The breakfast buffet was also good.Guest review byCraigSouth Africa

Shizuoka is a hidden gem.
Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.Guest review byMarkAustralia - 8.0
Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us.
Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us. Easy to get to from Osaka. Stayed in a traditional ryokan (tattoo friendly). Spent the day walking along the harbour to the ropeway up to Atami castle which had several different art displays and museums including an adults only one and a great view of the coast. Away from the beach things were pretty steep so a car might have been a sensible optionGuest review byBrigidAustralia - 8.0
Hamamatsu is a small industrial city located about halfway...
Hamamatsu is a small industrial city located about halfway between Kyoto and Tokyo. It has a number of industrial tourism sites - Suzuki Plaza, esp., and music-related sites - Yamaha Innovation Road and the Musical Instrument Museum. There are a number of Jazz- and Classical-music festivals in the fall, and that is a good time to visit. Lake Hamana is beautiful, and there are a number of interesting temples, shrines, and historical sites like the small but beautiful Hamamatsu Castle. Mostly ignored by Western tourists, but easy to get around, it's charm is in one's ability to visit Japan as it is for those who live there.Guest review byJerome - 8.0
I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen.
I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen. The fare is ¥5900 one way and travel time is nearly an hour. I stayed at Toyoko Inn which is 150 meters from the Shin Fuji station. There are lots of car rentals in the area but I was not able to get one as they only accept advance booking from their website. It took me 2 hours getting to and from the foot of Mt. Fuji, by bus and a 15 minute walk in the village to reach my destinations. Roads are quite narrow but they are common in Japan. Like most countryside places in Japan, Fuji is relatively clean, rich in nature, and lots of places to explore. My advice if you want to visit Fuji: 1. Travel by Shinkansen going to and from Fuji. 2. Rent a car so you can visit most of the attractions in and around Mt. Fuji. 3. Spend at leat 3-4 days in the area. 4. Bring cash with you always as most establishments are cash based. 5. Download Papago app on your phone so you can translate Japanese images, signs, etc if you're having difficulty understanding the language. That's it and enjoy your trip to Mt. Fuji.Guest review byMauro Jr - 10.0
Everything about Gotemba is excellent and magical.
Everything about Gotemba is excellent and magical. Gotemba is one of the most significant epicenters for adventure and sightseeing in all of Japan. It is of course an exceptional gateway to hiking and adventuring on Mount Fuji using the Gotemba, Subashiri and Fujinomiya 5th Station traiheads. Hakone-Yumoto onsens/spas and Lake Ashi are also right in the area. Free shuttle buses offer a 20 minute ride straight to the Famous Gotemba Outlets if shopping for 15 hours is what you are in the mood for. Don't forget Odawara Castle just down the way or Fuji-Q and the Fuji Speedway just up the way, to name a few. Gotemba ROCKS! Mount Fuji and the Osunabashiri descending trail are really the #1 world class attraction among many. Furthermore, all the special local people who support all the vast Gotemba opportunities are the best and truly loved.Guest review byBrettUnited States - 10.0
Definitely visit the zoo if you have the opportunity.
Definitely visit the zoo if you have the opportunity. It’s very interactive with lots of cute animals. The in Granpal Park illumination was also really good! 7/11 and Family Mart have amazing egg sandwiches. The kadowaki tsuribashi suspension bridge and trails are worth the visit as well.Guest review byHeatherUnited States - 8.0
If you love beach Shimoda is best for you.
If you love beach Shimoda is best for you. You can enjoy the white sand and wide beach line. Sunshine and twilight views from the seashore ate so excellent The sound of waves, the feel of sand, and the sun create a soothing environment, making it a perfect spot for relaxation and stress relief. Restaurant nearby are very few and most of those restaurants closes early and operates only weekends and holidays so you have plan were to eat your meals beforehand.Guest review bymichelynJapan - 8.0

It is a nice city with ocean and good izakaya restaurant culture and a few good museums which we really enjoyed. It was quiet when we visited with very few tourists. City itself has a few good points of interest worth exploring and its located close to other cities which would make for good day trips.Guest review byKenDeNegriAustralia - 10.0
It has many places to visit.
It has many places to visit. Of all, we love going up to Mt Omuro enjoying the view and walking round the crater. Jogasaki Coast which has great view of the rock formation. Cape Irozaki is another great place to visit! The Ryokan on the west side has great onsen and is unique too!Guest review byHong GeokSingapore - 10.0
Mishima is a diamond 💎.
Mishima is a diamond 💎. It was one of the most beautiful places I visited in Japan. The gardens, clear water streams, beautiful people, wonderful parks with animal petting zoo make this area a magnificent visit. Being on the doorstep of Mt Fuji it’s easy to catch public transport up the mountain. If you are looking for a top notch Japanese kitchen knife to take home, visit 3 waves. They have a great range of knives, higher quality than specialist stores in Tokyo or Kyoto with prices much lower than everywhere else I looked in Japan. The owner is learning English and will help you out. She is second generation. He father left the stock to her.Guest review byJimAustralia
