The Sands at Nomad is an exceptional, world-class resort located on a prime site on Diani Beach, Kenya. The resort is surrounded by tropical forest which ensures that there is no outside noise pollution. The forest is home to a variety of creatures, including at least 2 types of monkeys (Black and white Colobus and Syke's or Samango monkeys) Dik-dik, Bush babies (Grester Galago) and numerous species of birds. The accommodations are spacious and comfortable, ranging from standard Sea Breeze rooms to private villas. I had a Beach bungalow - ideal for single travelers or couples, whilst my friend had a standard Sea Breeze room. The Beach bungalow had the advantage of being right on the beach (literally about 15 m from the pure white sand) and benefitted from the sea breeze, whereas the Sea Breeze room, despite its name, did not get much benefit from the breeze due to tall trees which blocked the view of the beach, but had a great ambience. Both rooms were air conditioned, so the breeze was not essential. There are a wide range of watersports and activities on offer.

A true haven of peace! The hotel Lalagalu is simply perfect! This thanks to a staff both very discreet and very attentive. The entire team is extremely polite, very caring and all this with a sincere smile continuously. A big thank you to all for this very relaxing stay we needed on arrival! You met all our expectations and even more. I also tried the lemon scrub which was a real moment of relaxation and pleasure. The masseuse was very delicate and attentive to my well being. The reception team was always very responsive and helpful with everything we needed. Finally the Chief Johan is really gifted and all our meals were so so delicious !! The hotel itself is very original very well located, 50 meters from a beautiful beach. The pool is also nice, design and clean! The pool is also nice, design and clean! Sunbathing on top and very comfortable. The room is always super clean, design and very pretty. The decor is a subtle mix of wood, cement and local materials.     - Basically everything - what a great time we had here. I will come back if I am again in Diani. - such helpful and attentive service staff, very friendly - they made us truly feel very welcome and helped us with every wish to feel so comfortable - wonderful beach, great riff to snorkle, possible to walk over to the riff at low tide, fun to swim at high tide, very clean - the buffet restaurant was amazing - the staff took great attention to keep the food warm and as fresh as possible on the buffet - it was truly my best hotel buffet experience so far (as I usually am picky on that and do not like such buffets - where usually everything tastes similar and is not freshly prepared or even half cold). I was surprised how good they cooked. They had a good mix of different stations with some food even freshly prepared and also allways some good choice of local specialities. Great meat and fish. - when something was missing on the buffet, they took care to bring it to our table - great cocktails at the bar and the restaurant as well - also good beach restaurant - funny monkeys (stealing from guests - but not too disturbing) - great Masai security - very friendly and helpful - making you feel always very comfortable and protecting you from Monkeys and beggars at the beach - afternoon tea time with cake - towels for the beach - everywhere they have lot of staff members to look for you and make you feel so comfortable - even at the beach you get served with drinks - evening dance shows for those who like it (was not bad - even though it is less of my taste) - come on your birthday: the staff allways sung so nicely and well for those who had a birthday at their table and brought a cake for them. That was so much fun and pleasure to watch.

    Everything. The room in front of the ocean is great! The food is great. The wifi is really good. The staff is amazing! The beach in front is amazing. The security and organization of the hotel is perfect! The green around is beautiful!They have a lot of trees, including beautiful baobabs. The monkeys love them. I saw colobus with babies, plus 2 other species of monkeys every day. Please, don't feed the monkeys and be extra careful that they don't get inside the your room. You can take videos and photos without given them food. They can have a lot of diseases and they became aggressive after if they don't get food from you! They have a program to help the turtles to survive and get to the sea safely, it's a nesting area that is protected and volunteers from a government association go there to check and monitoring the turtles. If a turtle nests on the beach nearby they relocate it to that safety area. They also don't use plastic bottles in the hotel, only glass bottles. The hotel is also really well integrated in the middle of the nature, not constructed in high and using local materials for the roofs, for example. Very relaxing and great. They have activities every day, also pool table, trampoline, volleyball net, etc. I really recommend it.

    I was particularly impressed by the delicious and varied food served throughout the day. The all-inclusive meals never left us hungry and the buffet offered both local and international options.  The proximity to the ocean is outstanding. The lodge is right on Diani Beach, so stepping out of the hotel you are almost immediately on the white sands and azure sea.  The cleanliness of the rooms and grounds was excellent. Our room were spotless, the gardens and public areas were well maintained, and everything felt fresh.  The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and always smiling - from reception, to restaurant, animation staff, to housekeeping - they went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable.  Overall, this was a wonderful and relaxing break.

    A beautifully crafted and decorated hotel - on an island in the Indian Ocean (17km south of Diani) - sister hotel Nomad where we previously stayed and we would say it was a more peaceful experience. The room was beautiful and spacious. Excellent variety of food and different restaurants. There’s a lovely gift shop and so many activities - kayaking, mangrove walks, yoga, diving etc or you can just relax on the beach or by one of the three pools. Sunsets on the deck are incredible. Good transfers to and from Diani - depending on the tide you will go across by small boat or tractor! Which was so fun!

    The most important point to mention are the staff that work here. They are a real asset to the hotel. They are friendly, welcoming and attentive. They truly complete the hotel. The hotel itself is set right there on an amazing stretch of beach. Beautiful sea water. The pool is great. Gardens pleasant. Rooms are great (some people may have really high standards when it comes to rooms but I feel in context they are brilliant) The restaurant food is abundant and of good quality (especially the steak) Drink service was fast and drinks good. All in all, a fabulous hotel.

    Great place. The host organized freshly baked gluten free bread for us which was amazingly delicious. We had a spacious and quiet cottage. We enjoyed the use of the fridge and air conditioning. The electricity bill for 6 nights was very low, reasonable and below 10 dollars. Very kind staff. Clean pool. We rented a kayak nearby and went snorkeling by ourselves with low tide, which was amazing. Thank you!!

    Powdery white sand that is very easy to walk on.

    Powdery white sand that is very easy to walk on. The reef about 500-600m offshore breaks the outer waves so inside the reef is moderately calm. Water shoes recommended due to sea urchins in some areas. A nice beach for walking, but you will be approached by vendors. A polite 'no' is usually sufficient. Several excellent places to eat along the stretch of beach where we stayed - Nomad's, Faulty's at the Flamboyant, Ali Barbour's Cave (reservation required), and Asha Boutique (Friday night beach buffet).

    Its a nice place with a beautiful beach with clear blue water. Water in the apartments are however salty, I assume its because of the beach surrounding the area. Food and activities are expensive around this area.

    Beautiful white sandy beaches and lovely place for snorkeling and other water activities. Everything you need closeby in the town of Diani or Ukunda. great restaurants all around with good food quality and taste. Friendly and helpfull people.

    The spirit at Kaya Kwetu is one of love and tranquility and, together with the constant sounds of the waves and the birds, feels a bit paradise-ish. Lindsay and her team are very attentive and helpful from first contact, special food requirements, transport options and late checkout. The creativity and vibe of the unique rooms has one transported into another world and it's all relaxation and connecting with nature. From the "jungle pool" to the beach walks and healthy meal options, a stay at Kaya feels like rejuvenation therapy :-)

    Perfect.

    Perfect. I wrote a previous outstanding review but Booking.com only posted my two comments from “suggested improvements”, which were inconsequential but gave a negative impression. The property was lovely, steps from an amazing white sandy beach fringed with coconut palms. I loved lolling on the comfy cushions on the roof terrace in the evenings. Cecilia who looked after us was amazing and a great cook. Her fish curries were to die for. The bed was comfy and the mosquito nets a great asset. The community pool was well maintained with a fabulous on site masseuse, Habiba. Amazing relaxing vacation would highly recommend.

    Ukunda is a great place to visit with family and also friends.The best place to watch the sunset on Kongo river and the beach is clean with white sand. We very much enjoyed each morning watching the monkeys jump around in the trees surrounding us Also amazing food at the estuary with very good price and friendly customer service. Overall : A beautiful 👌🏾 , friendly and peaceful place to be.

    amazing beach, white, clean most times, palm trees. exactly like in paradise, snorkelling, windsurfing, jetski, sand bank walks were available we ate mostly in the main restaurant of Neptune Palm Boutique and Spa. But I can also recommend Sands Nomad or Alibaba restaurant.

    Mostly private resorts however not far from Diani and accessible from Mombasa. The Likoni Ferry (which is the only way from Mombasa Island to the south) can take some time to cross- we took almost three hours when we first arrived.

    Diani beach is a great place to chill, relax, swim in warm ocean waters. Diani beach has a vibrant and eclectic nightlife , for those who want it. Getting around by tuk-tuk taxi is cheap and easy, the people are fab, But . . . don't go in May, or early June, it is very very rainy! December to March are best, Jan & Feb dryest by far. Enjoy.
